I currently have the OME lift as everyone probably knows. It only gave me around 1.5in of lift on thr front and I think its about time for more. The rear can easily be lifted with some spring isolators but what should I do on the front? I cannot do a simple clevis lift b/c I will get UBJC, but I was looking at these rustys spacers. http://rustysoffroad.com/Merchant2/merc ... sus_kj_par They say they are a .75in spacer. Do you all believe those would work for what Im wanting? They are onyl $20. I have the ome medium duty springs, wonder if the HD ome springs would lift the front .5in more? Thanks for any help guys! Im thinking of calling All J's and just chating with them to see what they think. |

That looks similar to the spacer used in the Frankenlift. |

Thats not what I want. I do not want to be near as high as the franken lift. I only want .5in more lift, giving me a 2" lift. |

They aren't in the shop until the 23rd. I didn't say it was the spacer used in the Frankenlift, I said it looked similar, so it would probably do what you want. Now that my OME HDs have settled, I don't think they are any taller than a 926OME spring lift, just a little stiffer. |

I think that this is more of what you need: http://rustysoffroad.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=KJSP&Category_Code=sus_kj_par |

I do not believe I can use those. They will give me more droop and give me UBJC, thanks though!! |

Correct me if I am wrong anyone, but isn't it no matter if you put a spacer within the strut assembly or on top of it(like the strut plate) you will get more droop cause either way you are making the points between the upper and lower mounting points of the strut longer? |

If those are the same ones I called about then they will net you .75-1" but they are only like 1/4" thick I was thinking about the same thing but then when I did the clevis lift I looked at the strut and relized that I could make the same thing for way less than $25 all they do is cut a spacer from a pcs of plate and drill 4 holes in it you could get some plate from home depot and cut it with a jigsaw for less than 1/2 that if you were cheep like me this will probablybe my next "small change" if you go this route I noticed on mine that you will net about 3+ times what you put for a spacer if it works the same as a clevis lift because 3/8" shim gave me about 7/8 to right at 1" lift on the front at the pinch weld |

If you put a spacer under the spring, the shock will still only let so much out. If you put it ontop of the plate, the shock cannot do anything about it. It drops the entire coil over down. A clevis lift does the same thing, just doesnt drop the entire thing down. Anyone else have any ideas since I cannot use that rustys spacer... Wonder how much more lift I would get of I went to the OME GHd springs? |

So in that sense if you put a spacer inside with the spring the amount of lift is limited to the extension of the strut? Which in turn will make the coil more compressed and a stiffer ride. And if your spring already maxes out the strut length there really is no point to adding spacers in with the spring then? So if the strut is limiting you then you have to add spacers outside of the strut assembly. Am I right? I am trying to learn this stuff here. |

I am interested in beefing up the front end also, that is, add a little bit more lift. I have the Rusty's 2.5" suspension lift with about 30K+ miles on it and I am sagging quite a bit. I picked up 4 1/2" pucks from All Js to add an inch to the rear end (two pucks on each side), but now I need to tackle the front. I was looking at the Rusty's spacer or the strut plate. After reading this thread, I am a bit confused as to what to use. I would like to scrap the whole thing and go Frankenlift, but the cost is holding me back. |

That is correct sorta just like the rear if you put the spacer under the spring in the strut assembly you will gain only lift but drop will be limited by the lenght of the strut like the shock in the rear if you jack up your jeep the tires dont leave the ground for a while if you take the time to make a spacer that could go say under the spring within the strut assembly that would work also but you would have to remove the spring from the strut to do it wich is a real pita a small spacer either over or under the strut assembly is the most reasonable way to gain a "little" lift I dont know about lifted KJ's but mine at stock with the 3/8" spacer under the strut but at full drop I have enough room for my hand all the way to the wrist to fit between the spring and the UBJ or about 1.5" of space so the UBJ to spring thing I dont get |

Thats with the stock front shocks though jason. The OME shocks will let the wheel droop alot more than the stock shocks. |

Here is what I have in mind.
As you can see, my upper ball joints are very close to hitting the spring while the wheel is off the ground. In this picture(Campers Libby):
The upper ball joints goes between the coils in the spring. I will need to rotate the spring so that the joint can do that, then put a couple more conduit nuts under the clevis. The question is, how do I rotate that thing? Will I need a spring compressor to compress the spring so I can spin it? Or do I have to take the whoel coil over apart? Also, will this put anymore wear and tear on the balljoints since the suspension will be drooping more? Will it pinch the boots or anything like that? |

Wow, finally a good discussion on suspensions design and the changes incurred from the various lifts and homemade lifts. If I don't want a 2.5 inch lift in the front, what would this combo do: 1. Small clevis lift 2. Rusty's .5 inch top plate 3. Rusy's .75 inch insert 4. 2-2.5 inch spacers in the back (cause I'm always loaded). Would this combo get almost 2 inches in the front??? |

Maybe over 2" in front depending on the size of the clevis spacer. |

Just go for some OME Heavy duty springs with a clevis and you are done. Mine has been on for about 5000 miles now with the ARB hanging off the front and has not settled at all or maybe less than 1/4 of an inch if that can not notice it if it has and I am still level front to back as I was when I did it. May be cheaper today to get the Rustys top plates but I always look long term! |
