I can vouch for the one that Noscapegoat points you to. I've got the same one and used it a few times. It's a good quality strap. |

any thing with out metal hooks on it would work unless you plan to burry it in mud up to the doors in mud I have had real good luck with the 20K one that most of the auto parts places sell if you want "hard core" check out a place that sells rigging for cranes but DO NOT look at the "load rating" but rather the size cause the 2" wide by like 1/4" thick strap you buy from walmart would never lift what a real strap rated for 20K (or maby 10K I cant rember) A 3" wide 20' strap from a place like that will cost you a little more but it will never break if you take care of it |

If you are going to really need to snatch people out then you need a strap that will stretch to give you the bungee effect. Plus, a strap that stretches is easier on the recovery points. Go for a nylon strap over a polyester strap. Nylon will stretch a little. A 20k strap will work well in most cases, a 30k might be bit of an overkill but will work just fine. Anything larger is overkill, especially if you are looking for some stretch. A 50k strap will hardly stretch with the loads most of us would be putting on them. If you just need a gentle tug from time to time than any cheap strap will do. Check out this page. Lots of good info about strap and other recovery gear. http://offroadrecovery.com/c=MfPQNFufFg ... overyinfo/ http://offroadrecovery.zoovy.com/catego ... verybasics |

i have a great 100'recovery rope it was an used rope for pulling rail cars. i work for a grain elevator all of our ropes are inspected before every use if there is any fraying they get junked. This one had a mouse chew on it right below the hook cut that off and the rope is fine just have to get new eyes braided in. not sure of the strength but it will pull 8 loaded grain cars. lots of stetch to it also whenn pulling hard it will reduce from a 1.75" down to about an inch in diameter thank you rodents |

lots of guys around here near the rivers always use barge ropes.... those sensored word are HUGE... most guys that have them are in pickup trucks where they have room to carry them... a friend of mine has one and it's nice because if someone gets stuck in a particularly nasty mud bog, barge ropes are long enough to let the pulling vehicle stay up on dry ground while extracting the poor soul Mark edit: the board censor changed "b-a-s-t-a-r-d-s" to "jerks" |

I bought a HD reinforced loop 20,000 lb commercial cargo strap 25 years ago. It's still going strong. Get a good one whatever you buy and it will be some of the best money you can spend on your rig. |

I bought the 20k 2" strap made by highland and it seems to be holding up good. Ive pulled a couple trees and also "tried" to pull a couple trees and its never broke on me. I was giving it all the libby had on one, by that I mean getting a run and go and the libby bounced back. |

Tractor Supply has 20K snatch straps for ~$35. They say tow straps, but if you read the back of them, they are stretchy. |

While trying to stay on topic...how many have used the TSC straps? Are they good? |

I've used mine quite a bit, and other than being a bit dirty from mud, still are looking great...no frays, cuts, etc... |
