| Post subject: | Dont buy rusty products |
I have an 04 sport with massive bump steer and it bottoms out on even the smallists of objects. I bought the rustys spacer lift a little less than a year ago and have had nothing but problems. The lift was installed professionaly at the dealership, alignment done and everything else that the lift requires you to do. Since then I have replaced both lower ball joints once, the right shock once, have had at least 3 more alignments at different locations to see if they could get it in line and they could not. I just picked up my KJ at the dealership (different one this time) again after having more work done to it. This time it was both lowers 1 upper ball joint and both springs and shocks. I have called Rustys several times over the past 8-10 months and all he says is that they have sold over 200 spacer lifts and that its not there problem if i cant get it to work right on my jeep. I asked if he had any advice to fix it and he said," we have sold over 200 of these kits and your the only one that seams to have problems with it." This is not the way to treat customers if he expects to have them come back for more products. As for me, I will never buy amother product from him and I suggest you do the same. |

That sucks! To bad, from the business i have done with him, and people i know who have, I have nothing but good to say to say about htat company!! Isn't that kit though designed like the horrard OTT spacer kits? As for me never buying from there again, YEAH RIGHT! Great products from the limited resources for our rigs and great sevice in my experience with them makes me a loyal customer. Since the dealer put the lift in shouldn't they fix anythng that went wrong with it? |

With any lift kit, you will get some amount of bump steer. If it's really bad, though, you might want to check if your steering rack bushing is torn. Mine was torn, and the bump steer was pretty bad, as well as jittery after hitting bumps and potholes. Bushing was replaced under warrenty. |

I will check on that bushing. I would think though that the dealership would check that when I brought it in and complained about the bump steer. |

Well it's kinda buried down there. You can visually inspect it though. Run your fingers through the bushing and see if any comes apart. Also turn the engine off, roll window down (or have someone else look), turn the steering wheel and see if there's any wheel movement (Clint showed me how to do this check). If there's more than slight play, you might have to replace. |

seems like all spacer lifts are garbage (not just the RRO), they get the job done, but at what cost? destruction of your suspension i would just remove it all, and get a full suspension lift, i bet you could have bought one 3 times over now with all the replacements (from the dealership) that you have paid for |

A lot of people on here run the daystar with little or no problems. |

Leave the frontend on the ground. The driver side bushing is visible from the top. It's on the top portion of the steering rack. |

I have been running the Rustys spacer lift for over 2 years & 15,000+ miles now, and have no problems with it at all. Still on the stock struts & shocks, still on the stock upper & lower ball-joints too. All are still in great shape. The key is to never let the dealership mechanics anywere near it. The last car I had always left the shop with more problems than when it went in. Hell, the first time we took our KJ in to the stealership for its very first 3,000 mile oil change they "changed the filter & added 5qts of oil". Can you tell me what they forgot to do??? I know you can. Can we say 9.5qts of oil boys & girls... My wife & I have gone wheelin in mud, snow, rocks, sand, Portland traffic If we had the money I would like to get the Skyjacker or Frankinlift because they are better kits and give more lift, but I hear people having problems with them too. It's just a part of wheelin, build it, drive it, break it, repeat. |

Unless you do a decent clevis lift, your jeep will look like a wedge going down the road. |

All right you guys, be nice. Do you have anything constructive to add? Like: "you may want to reconsider the size of the front spacers, i think a 1.5" may give you more of what your looking for"? |

I didnt mean anything bad by it, I was just adding info. TDI4BY, as the spacers say, they only lift the front .75in. The rear ome springs seem to average around 2" of lift depending on what kind you got. You may want to up it to a daystar 1.5-2in spacer so the jeep will look noice. Idk if you could use the clevis to lift it that high or not with the .75in spacers. That better moose. |

Just FYI, those .75" spacer he sells are identical in size to the Daystar ones used on the Frankenlift. I had both of them side by side in my garage at one time. I know everyone has their own experiences, but I've installed 2 Rusty's spring kits so far and both where just fine. Good lift for the price. I would recommed it to anyone looking for the best bang for the buck lift. |

Someone has to play jiminy cricket for you from time to time Eddo - I think you just helped make up my mind on lifts, since it sounds like you're up for a 3rd |

So the seller has mislabeled them the 0.75" spacer - becasue there are two out there with pictures of both on this web site. The 0.75" front spacer is much shorter than the 1.5" - both from Daystar. |

Thats what Ive always heard? I thought that spacer was to "level" a stock kj so the rear wasnt higher than the front? That would be sweet if you could buy the ome rear springs and front spacer from rustys for $20! If that spacer did lift a kj 1.5in+the 1.5in from the ome springs, that would give the kj a total of 3in. Which is basically the average height of the franken lift. Idk whats going on? |

Daystar top plate + OME 1.5" lift springs with struts + 0.75" (1.5"lift) Daystar spacer = Frankinlift 3.0" lift. Does that sound right? Remember, the stock rubber lower spring pad is 0.75" thick, so the 0.75" spacer is really 1.5" thick. I have also seen some that really are only 0.75" to be used with the stock rubber pad, for a total hight of 1.5". |
