OK here lies my little dilemma. i'm going wheeling for the 1st time in my KJ. its an 05 sport. the park i'm riding at require at least 1 tow point in front. here is what my problem is. i have no tow hooks. i bought mine used from a 5star dealer. they want an ARM and a leg for installed front tow hooks. Is there anything i can do my self at home cheaper?? plese tell me yes... any an all help is appreciated and welcomed. thanx PJ |

Try this http://www.lostjeeps.com/forum/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?t=9316&highlight=. I would've done this but after the money and time that went into fabing this up 85 bucks at the dealer for mopar tow hooks didn't seem so bad. This is still a great idea though. It took me 15 min to install the mopar's on my 05... |

yeah, my tow points are mean as heck, but the parts will run you at least $40 each and then you need to find someone to weld and drill if you don;t have the means to do the yourself. ***EDITED TO ADD "each" to the above line |

I can't I know how to do the welding, but I have to rely on friends that own welders. If I ever got one of my own, I'd be glad to make them and sell them to folks here. Drilling sucks, but a good drill press can do it. (Have to push a 11/16"ish hole through 2" of solid steel) |

PJ I'm in the same boat. I just bought (just half an hour ago...) some factory tow hooks. Haven't installed them yet, but they came w/instructions, it's a bolt-on job. You'll need a torque wrench and metric socket set. Shouldn't be a big deal. I know things never go quite as planned, but this looks pretty good. I'll be installing them tomorrow, I'll let y'all know how it goes... Edit: almost forgot: about $100 out the door for the hooks and associated hardware. So an arm, but not a leg. |

Rent? OK, part cost of "over $40", let's say $60? Plus your time and whatnot, how about $110 - $120 or somewhere thereabout, would that be acceptable to potential buyers and you? |

Tow hooks are over rated anyway!!! Just floor it and push thru!!! If you are in NJ, e-mail me and you can stop by one night and we can install them, takes about an hour to an hour and a half. If you bust on me it takes half an hour, and all the paint around your bumper will be chipped Al |

NJ Jeep, I've tow hooks collecting dust in my garage from a '04, if you want them all I ask is that you pay the shipping. They are somewhat heavy but I can look into it, if you want them? Later, Dave |
