Post subject:  Skyjacker Questions

OK, I have found a pretty good deal on a Skyjacker Suspension lift, but I have a few questions.

1. The Skyjacker web site doesn't have anything listed for the 2006. Is the lift for the 2005 the same as the one for the 2006? I seem to recall somthing about the brake system being different on the 2006, but I thought the 2005 had the new break system as well.

2. How much would you pay to have the skyjacker installed? Keep in mind...money is not a big issue, I have no technical ability at all, and I am so busy at work (we are building a Uranium Ennrichment Plant) that I really have no time at all...

3. I have read a few write-ups around here about the skyjacker, and it seems pretty possitive. Is there anything that I should know before I spend my cahs?

Thanks for your help

Brigrat!

Perhaps I should clarify...lol

I am the Security Manager...Guns I know...Security Systems are no problem...paperwork I excel at...regulators are no problem...I was a Marine after all...

wrenches on the other hand are not my thing...I usually handle technical stuff well, but I come from a family of people who never did anything with their hands other than shoot things and eventually work their way up to paper pushers...no one in my family ever even taught me how to change my own oil.

If it wasn't for places like this, I would know nothing about the technical side of things. I am capable with a weapon, learned to 4x4 in hummers and chevy 1 tons, and can do things with a computer system or classified network that would knock your socks off. But when it comes to doing work on my own vehicle, I have always figured that I am better off paying an expert than ruining my own stuff lol

From what I've heard, the Skyjacker gives an excellent road ride due to their springs. The same springs off road are a differnt story in that the are a little "bouncy" and when stuck on an obstacle the front end tends to "bounce" more than usual which could be dangerous for your diff. If you do 95% driving and 5% Moderate wheeling...I think this lift is fine. Just wheel with one on the gas and one on the brake and dont be afraid to use your left foot. Another thing is that I seem to remember that the first batch of lifts were at least 3", if not more and they had to reduce the rate.

Hope this helps.

from what i understand, the soft-ride springs have a slight bouncing effect when in you're stuck. however, you pair the springs up with some skyjacker platnium shocks, this issue can be somewhat corrected. the rebound rate is a little bit slower than that of the hydros or nitros. my friend had very similar issues w/ his 2.5" TJ lift w/ soft-ride coils, but was easily corrected with the right shocks.
