Just thought I'd pass this on to those who might be wondering what the deal is with Superlift. INQUIRY Sent: Sunday, August 27, 2006 4:38 PM To: michaelc@superlift.com Subject: Liberty Lift Can you give me an update on the status of the Jeep Liberty Lift? The Liberty has been out since 2002 and it's my understanding that it is up for redesign in 2008. There's a growing number of Liberty owners performing mods. What's the delay? The KJ's so similar in design to the released 2005 WK/XK lift that it boggles the mind why those two would be released without the other. What gives? Respectfully, RESPONSE Sent : Monday, August 28, 2006 10:54 AM From: Michael Correro <mcorrero@superlift.com> We have just received a 2007 Liberty from Jeep that we can keep. So now we will be able to get more done with it. The only one we had done before that was the Liberator which Jeep took from us directy after it was finished so there was never any real test time put on it. The reason the WK/XK’s we done first is because they both use the same frame. So therefore you have a larger customer base because you can build one lift for 2 vehicles. Plus we had a WK to keep here and Jeep pushed us to do these kits a little more than the Liberty. Thanks |

Truth is how many of those people that bought the KJ actually wheel it. I hate to say it but it is a lot fewer than the people who bought the other models probably and that may be why it is so hard for us to get after market support even though there is all of us here and many more that don't come on this forum who use the libby as it is intended. |

When I went to the Snowshoe Jeep Jamboree last month there were 200 Jeeps there. Four of them were KJs, and there were absolutely no WKs nor XKs. The WKs and XKs are not anymore capable off road than the Liberty and their luxury features/size make them more expensive. A few of the guys there that brought their Wranglers off road had WKs and XKs (many used them to trailer their Wranglers there) but said there was no way they'd take them off road. I would assume because they're larger they'd be harder to handle off road. Also because they are essentially Jeep's luxury models they have much more paint that could get scratched off, metal flares that can be more easily dented, no CommandTrac transfer case, and a suspension built more for ride quality than for durability). Not that our front IFS wasn't added for ride quality |

I'm sure the number of people who take their Liberties off-road is far higher than the number of people who take commanders and grand cherokee's off-road. (Those two models were essentially designed for street use and they're newer than the liberty so owners are not yet as willing to modify/damage them) |

I haven't seen a single new Grand or Commander out on the trails here in Colorado. Those are showboats only. |

WK's.... Yeah, people may not wheel them but the soccer mommies who buy them will lift them regardless. Or worse... they will be bought for their spoiled richie gang banger wanna be kids... who will lower them. I saw a lowered Range Rover the other day with those spinny wheels. Ugggg. These suspension guys are just making stuff for the people with the most money. We are thinking like wheelers.... and cheap wheelers at that. We are not like suburbanite "truck" people. When it comes to wasting money, the truck people are worse than the Japanese vehicles with the tin cans on their cars exhaust and the three foot fin on their trunk. They will dump $20,000 into a cosmetic lift, flames on the side, cromed exhaust pipes coming out of the bed, 37 inch tires that stuff going over speed bumps, cold air intakes that are exposed to the elements, the required "Bad to the Bone"/"No Fear"/"Skin"/"Orange County Choppers" decals, and the chromed golden inlay edition Yosemite Sam mud flaps... The mall crawlin WK folk are just the tail end of that crowd. That's their wife's mall crawler version of their big truck... When you have all those folk spending the kind of ca$h they do... you can see why a company forgets about the Liberty. I am surprised they make anything for the Jeeps anymore. Why bother to make something that would get used off-road? Then you would have to make sure it actually worked! No.... too much work... just make stuff for the 4 million truck people who drive to the In-N-Out burger and to work and back. Oh yeah... we already have one of those... the "rock crawler" 7-up. Mall rated baby! At least Superlift is doing something...maybe. If I am really lucky... it will work for the CRD. If not, someone else will come along. I remember when I wanted a disconnect... got it. Wanted a snorkel... will get it soon. Now I just need a lift with a real suspension and front diff. I will get it some how. On a side note, a local 4x4 shop says they were told by Superlift that the 4inch Liberty lift would be out in the spring. |

I haven't seen a new Grand on the trail either, however I did see one that's nicely modified. It had roof rack on, and shovel / high-lift mounted. I doubt he did that just for fun. He was driving near where I worked, so maybe he was going on a trail somewhere. |

Not true, the Grands outsold the liberty by a ton (numbers from back when the liberty was announced to be the top-selling compact SUV). The liberty is definitely outselling the wrangler, though, and it's outselling everything else in its class from other manufacturers (this year anyway). |

Around here all of the soccer moms that own liberties gave them to their daughters apparently. I've never seen a lifted WK or commander, especially one driven by a soccer mom. If anything, they're going to buy an excursion or escalade, not a lifted grand cherokee. |
