OK. I'm ordering either my rockrails or skid plates this weekend. I have the 02 without the offroad package. Im looking here at their skidplates. http://jparts.com/index.php?manufacture ... 4d811dda2c Is the engine skid plate the one that came standard on all 02s? I know I have one at the front, I'm just not sure if thats the name for it. Also, some of them say 05-06. Is there really a difference? I refuse to take the KJ out again until I get armored, so... |

They all fit the 2002. No difference. |

Yes there is a differance I do know that if it says '02-'06 then it will fit but if it says '05-'06 it will not fit and do not waste your money on the trans skid it will bend on the first twig that hits it I built my own trans skid for cheep and I like it I bought the factory x-fer case skid and front and gas tank skids from the dealer I do not think I would buy one that is no labeled for an '02 cause 99% it will not fit |

Well. This website only has one skidplate that works for my application then. Does anybody know where I can find all the skidplates at the same place for a decent price? I would prefer to use a reputable vendor and not EBay. I'm also on a tight budget, so skids like the Kilby are out for now. |

The transfer skid and gas tank skid should work. I have the tcase skid for the 2004 libby and have one hole that didnt line up. All you have to do is drill a hole in the cross member. Idk if the tranny skid will work with the different cross member. (02's have different tranny. |

An '05-'06 transmission skid will fit all years, but you will have to sandwich the front under the engine skid and grind off a couple tabs. I gave mattnmette my mopar tranny skid and it was a 30 min install including the grinding. It is def. not as beefy as an All J Super Skid or similar, but it is definitely better than having nothing there and isn't that expensive to use it as an intermediate solution until you can afford better. |

So basically they can all be retrofitted to fit an 02 is what you're saying? I definitely know that it wont be as strong, but I'd rather a cheap skid take the brunt of a hit, than my tranny. ANd also, by transmission skid, is it the same thing as what the websites have been calling t-case skids? I know the transfer case and the transmission are two very different things, but does the one skid cover both? |

AHHHH! OK. I get it now. Thanks. I'm very new to this (some of my recent projects have ended in catastrophic failure hence the broken door handle). The grinding and that isn't gonna take a master fabricator to do is it? |

I didnt do any grinding, I was kinda wondering what he was talking about? There are 2 tabs on the front of the tranny skid that go into holes on the engine cross member to hold it while you bolt it up. Only the 05-06 libbys have the holes so all you need to do is bend them up. You will however need to drill 2 holes in the tranny/tcase crossmember. I believe the bolts I got were 3/4 2.5in grade 8 bolts and locking nuts. Can anyone chime in and make sure its 3/4 2.5in bolts? Its very hard to get under there and drill these holes. I ended up sitting the drill on the floor jack and made a drill press, worked very good! Edit: Jason, it doesnt hit the exahust pipe at all. Is his an 04 libby? |

Oh, OK. I'm getting it now. All I knew before was that I needed skid plates, and I wasnt paying the dealer to get them. So I can get them off the original jparts.com page I was at and just ignore the 05-06 designations. |

I also used a few thick washers to space the skid down a bit. Mostly pounding it down with a hammer worked though. -Nick |

Well, desertkj, I guess you have alittle more work cut out for ya. You can just washers and beat it down like said. Using washers would be much easier, but you loose ground clearance. |

Well i tried using just washers but that didnt clear it enought an it rattled. I had to take it off and pound it down. -Nick |

Mine is an 03 and has the 45RFE transmission. The fuel tank and transfer skid fit but the other 2 skids I have not mounted yet cuz they don't look right. |
