Anyone consider a TC lock up switch for wheeling? I have read allot of posts here on fluid overheating, I don't know what temp the light comes on for the Libby but on my Ram its 275 deg. and thats in the pan not the exit line!! By that time its all over with. Seems a manual switch to lock the TC would be a good idea as well as a pusher fan in front of a cooler if you don't have one. |

On a friends WJ he was having problems at the Dunes in Corpus Christi...I open the hood and was a rubber gasket running the lenght of the back of the hood. Since heat rises and needs a place to escape, I pulled it off ( easy to put right back on ). No more overheating...can't guarantee that it helped but it went from three times in limp mode to running the rest of the day. We just put it back on before he went home. |

That was a good idea. I often pop my hood alittle to let more air go under the front, never thought about removing that little piece of rubber. |

im not sure if that would be a wise thing to do...... if you lock the tq converter then you risk hard "jerk" forces on the powertrain... ie when the tires spin, then grab.... might blow clutches, maby even a ring gear....... if you put it in 4lo.... you have much better fluid circulation and should not have problems in vertually any condition....... and if you want to use it in 4hi just put a beefy aluminum trans cooler with a electric fan.. that is what i would do... just my 2cents |

Has anyone noticed how big the tranny cooler is on the 05-06 libbys. Its almost twice the size of ours. I guess they knew something and tried to fix it? |

90% of 03's and all '04-06 KJs have the tranny cooler built into the radiator, it's not a separate unit. You're probably looking at the AC condensor. |

Sorry if this is threadjacking, but how has the 45rfes held up for those who have them? |

I traced the lines right back to the tranny. Same on my parents 04. |
