Post subject:  CRD lift

Well everybody keeps talking about how the CRD is too heavy for the regular lift kits, even though there is only 300 lbs. total difference between the CRD and a V6 Libby. So anyway, I might actually be able to lift my Libby and fit some mud tires on it soon.

If you guys could pick any lift kit, and you had $300 to work with, which kit would you get for the CRD and why? I'm still in the learning phase. Thanks.

Yes we have tested a few lifts on the CRD and found the best to be the Daystar. I know there are a few company's selling their lifts and telling everyone that it aslo works an a CRD...WRONG.

I was able to go down to All J Products shop and we installed a few different lifts on a couple of CRDs and we learned a lot. I think the guys that are saying their lift will work on a CRD...But believe me...we actually installed them on a couple of them and know for a fact if they work or not.

You ask anyone that has a CRD and has anything other than the Daystar and I know for a fact it will be way TOO soft in the front. It will bounce and not off road at all because it will be so soft in the front.

I sure hope this helps...I am not saying this because I just think this...I have tried different lifts on a few CRDs and know what does and does not work. later...Clint

Clint did you guys try out the Rockfather? One of our members is running it on a CRD and is happy with it...

Thats funny you should ask. I know of a guy that started out with OTT on a CRD and man it was bad...so then he moved to the rockfather and still has the sloppy slow bounce in the front. he is moving to the Daystar in the next few weeks. Hope that helps

i have to say clint is right. i just finished installing the daystar lift in my CRD and wow .. it rocks. there is very little ride difference. the 'bounce' before and after the lift is the same. the install can be a little draining (or just on me) but the product is as good as every says. i really liked the fact that the front spacers have ball joint bumpers build in :D

as a crd owner and having installed the daystar lift (almost all by myself) i'm really glad i go it. i was looking at some other lifts and that would have been a mistake ..... no dought.

300lbs (if thats the correct wieght difference) is a lot of wieght to have moving around in the front end. if the springs arent ment to handle the that weight you'll sure have a lot of issues.

from what i could see the daystar lift is really top quality and very well put together. the only complaint i have is that i havent been able to get the front bump stops in. i'm going try some c-clamps tonight and see if i can press then in.

My CRD was a guinea pig of sorts. Clint and Nolan were most helpful in helping me install a lift for my CRD at the pre-Moab lift party in SoCal. Two weeks later, in Moab, at night, we had to take out that lift and install the Daystar because it was way too soft up front. Man, what a week that was...

Clint is a Jedi master and knows his stuff.

Hope this helps.
