Post subject:  Daystar Lift models

I think or at least I hope I’ve made my decision which lift to get. Now the next question is which model. Daystar currently carries two models. I'm trying to get as much feedback as possible. Below is a list of what each kit includes. Which one is better and why?

KJ09115 2002-2006 KJ Liberty Both 2/4WD
2-1/2"/2-1/2" Front -AND- Rear
(Includes Front Upper Strut Plates, Sway Bar Bushings, Bump Stops & Shock Boots)
2-1/2" Front Lift
2-1/2" Rear Lift

KJ09116 2002-2006 KJ Liberty Both 2/4WD
2-1/2"/ 2-1/2"Front -AND- Rear
(Includes Front Upper Strut & 4 Spacers)
2-1/2" Front Lift
2-1/2" Rear Lift

I think so too, especially since it includes the bump stops. Don't really see any advantage to the shock boots; even when I had my motorcycles I never liked 'em and always took them off any bike that had them. But the bump stops will help to keep your struts from blowing out and thats always a good thing 8)

Found this on a different forum.
Called Daystar and asked them are the bushings and bump stops really worth it. He told me that the bump stop do not really do anything new that the factory ones do. The only thing that the bushings do is tighten up the sway of the jeep along a turn.

Any further input?

Well if you look at the list of parts for the Frankenlift you'll see a set of Daystar bump stops included, that makes me believe they are indeed important.

Anyone know if you can get JUST the Daystar top plates?

I have the kit with the bump stops and they are actualy longer then the factory. This makes up for any flex to keep the tire from coming up in the fender. This lift performs well for the price. You will have to update the rear shocks, would recomend struts but the factory will work and work great.

bavfc3364, any specific shock brand/model you recommend? Why are new shocks recommended?

New "rear" shocks are recommended because the stock shocks do not allow as much flex. Also you will get a better ride with better aftermartket shocks.

I personally have Doestch 3000's on mine. They are ok, i would like to see how the ranchos are though. The 3000's give you a "softer" ride.

Its only 2" rear Bud, unless you use your bottom isolators with it. If you put longer shocks with the iso and puck and flex to the max...your spring can pop out. I've tested this every which way and loose. I have prelow springs.

When I say max, I'm talking longer shocks and tires 29.5" or smaller to allow it to open up properly to the original bumpstops, not the add on "reduce flex" bumpstop. or "tire in fender" bumpstop.

Measure the puck for yourself...2" Everyone who advertises it as a 2.5" rear is misleading.

You would be better off with OME springs unless you are running a 2002 prelow.

Unless you configure properly..."lift it, to limit its capabilites"
