It's nearly time to replace the tyres on my KJ Pioneer (2.5CRD manual) Current size is 235 70R16.
Has anyone gone up to 245 70R16?
If so, I was wondering what the slightly taller gearing did for the already questionable performance and fuel consumption as it currently revs it's nuts off at UK motorway speeds. Oh, This Jeep only gets highway use.

Ta.

What's a KJ Pioneer?

Oh and yes, you can run 245/70/16 tires without a lift. You will definately feel a difference, however, on highway-only driving (even if it is a very small one).

I think its like a commercial version, no back seats, flat floor, kind of like a work van version.

The 245/70/16's will give you a bigger footprint without any rubbing. It will also correct most speedo errors since they read notoriously fast. As for mileage, I think it helps on the highway IMHO. The power difference is negligible...

HOW ABOUT SOME PICS...and a LINK to a forum over there.

Interesting, I never heard of the Pioneer before. I removed the bottom of the back seat of my 03 to get it to fold down flat for my dogs. Also, keeps the mother in-law from riding along when my wife and I go someplace ;)
