Hey Guys, So I'm a new guy here, and I have a 2005 Liberty Sport that I'd like to make look as mean as my Chevy that I'm selling. Anyhow, I have a few things I want to do, and I've been reading my arse off so go easy on me as I know some of these are repeat questions: 1. Lift I've read the best spacer lifts to go with are the Daystar 2.5 or the Rev Tek 2.5". I'd like to go with a coil lift but cant afford the $500. I'm mainly just doing this for aesthetics. Will I be happy with just a spacer lift? 2. Rims/Tires Looking at the pictures on here I'd like to keep my general wide stance look that I've had on my past two trucks. I've been looking at some 17x9's with 5" backspacing. Will this achieve the just barely outside the fender look? Or should I search for 4.5" BS? Also, I see that some sellers on ebay list an offset, what does this refer to? 3. I'd like to take off the grey molding and make it black. Including the front and rear bumper. The jeep is the sport edition, white, so I'm thinking a black and white theme with black rims(mixed with some chrome) and a tint would look sharp. Any suggestions for painting the plastic black? Some have mentioned a Line-x spray, but that seems costly. Later mod's will include the K&N swap, maybe a nice catback, and of course a decent system. But for now, 1, 2, & 3 are my priorities. Thanks for your help, sorry some of this is repeat but I wanted to start my own thread that accustomed to my criteria. Jeep On! ~Josh BTW, if you're in the market for a nice Chevy, check mine out here: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chevrolet-Silverado-1500-LT-02-Custom-Chevy-Silverado-1500-LT-Loaded_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ13487QQhashZitem330033554730QQihZ014QQitemZ330033554730QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW |

Will I be happy with just a spacer lift? The spacer lifts in the front do make the ride harder. I was happy with my daystar when I had it. If all you will do is some easy trails and road trips, it should be fine. 2. Rims/Tires Looking at the pictures on here I'd like to keep my general wide stance look that I've had on my past two trucks. I've been looking at some 17x9's with 5" backspacing. Off set is the same as back spacing. I forget what the MOAB rims are, I think they are 5.5. % inch may not give you enough. 3. I'd like to take off the grey molding and make it black. Later mod's will include the K&N swap, maybe a nice catback, and of course a decent system. But for now, 1, 2, & 3 are my priorities. go for it and look at the 2 whell drive section for engine mods, etc. Thanks for your help, sorry some of this is repeat but I wanted to start my own thread that accustomed to my criteria. People have been pretty happy with the 5.0" backspacing (stock is 5.5, moab rims are 5.0). The lower the backspacing, the wider the stance, as I assume you realize. offset is the opposite, however. This page explains it pretty well: http://www.rsracing.com/tech-wheel.html ![]() Quote: 3. I'd like to take off the grey molding and make it black. Including the front and rear bumper. You mean apart from just rattle-canning it? |

WELCOME! Save your money from the K&N swap and put it toward the coil lift. I ran the Daystar in two different KJ's. I believe it to be better than the revTek and over time I still didn't like it any more especially when compared to my Frankenlift. It sounds like a Rustys coil lift would work fine for your situation. I don't like the K&N and I do not think it gains you anything over the good flowing stock air box other than letting in more dirt which I am sure you don't want. I speak from experience as I have a FIPK on my wifes 04 and I ran a drop-in on my 03. Only thing I have gained from the K&N's is more dirt in my intake tubes. I do not see that with a Wix drop in air filter. The FIPK filter will be changed for a dry style Amsoil air filter as soon as they make one to replace the K&N. |

So if I go with at 17x9 wheel, 5" BS, I will gain .5 inches width further out on both sides? Or do you add in the rim width to the calculation too? As far as fender paint goes, can you just use rattle can paint? Does it look good? Does it hold up to gas drips when filling up, snow, rain, salt? I thought this would have to be some sort of special paint thing...sorry, not familiar with painting. |

So I'm looking at a wheel that has a 5x4.5 (bolt/bs) with +35mm offset...what does this mean? |

Have you considered Rhino lining? It's been done by some of the members here and looks very tough. |

If it's a +35mm offset on a 9' width wheel, that gives you a VERY high backspace, which would actually make your track width narrower than the stock wheels. Do you have a link to the wheel you're looking at? Maybe they have their numbers wrong? |

I need to play with those in Photoshop. |

#3 won't fit our rigs, ALL the specs are way off. |

I'm mainly looking at 16's, 17's, or 18's, and I don't want the tires to be tucked under the fender all the way, it's gotta have that stance that the orange jeep boasts... please advise!

Didn't see if you planned on wheeling ht eKJ that these will be on. If so YIKES!!! Rock Rash would be preeety expensive. It'd look good tho. |

The orange Lib looks like it may have Rock Crawler Street Loks (Series 152). Probably the 16X8 size, which I believe have a 4.25 inch back spacing. |
