I have found in the Monroe & Rancho catalogs that they list the upper shock bolts for the KJ as a 16mm thread, and the Durango as a 12mm bolt thread.

My ? is, are they really 16mm or do they come with a sleeve to make them 12mm like the lower bolt ?

They just don't look like they could be a 16. The Rancho RSX17004 for the Durango (and 2" KJ) is listed as a 12mm mount and the RSX17080 for the Liberty is listed as a 16mm, but I know that some times they come with a sleeve although the catalog spec sheet doesn't say.

??

Not sure on the size, but on mine the top and bottom are definitely not the same size.

Have a 2" BDS lift kit and upgraded the rear shocks to the 17004's. I never swapped out the bolts but I did have to add a few washers to compensate for the smaller bushing. No problems with the bolt size though, used the same one.

Well, the job is done.

They are the same size, upper & lower are both 12mm, but the upper is wider. Just 4 washers, 2 on each side of Jeep and done.

Shocks = Monroe Sensa Trac's #37140 from any parts store, same app & size as the Rancho RSX17004's, but about 1/2 the price.

The rear is at just over 36" right now with my 245/75r16's, but I expect to lose about 0.5" as they seat in. The stock springs had sagged from 35.5" to 34.5" over the last 2 years. Front is still at 35.5" and has not sagged at all (I must have the HD stock springs).
