Post subject:  4WD Issues

Hey guys, so I was going through this muddy road - obviously in 4WD - and the road condition got better, and turned into a very loose gravel road. I forget to take it out of 4WD (cut me SOME slack, I've never had a 4WD before) before I got to the gravel, and I rode that way for about 200 yards. But the big issue is that there was this random patch of pavement that was at the very end of the gravel road, where it turned onto a main paved highway. I went around a gentle turn at about 15 mph and I heard the noise of tires spinning on the pavement (like, not squeeling.. more of a grinding / scraping on the pavement... not a metaly sound, def. rubber vs. asphalt). I was only on the pavement for about 20 feet. Is there a possibility that I could have messed anything up? It didn't sound like I did, but I have heard EVERYWHERE that it's a cardinal sin to leave it in 4WD on a non-slippery surface. Thanks for the advice!

You probably heard a little bit of binding from the pavement, but I wouldn't worry about it too much just in that short of a distance. Just watch out for that nasty pavement stuff in the future and you'll be good. Jeeps like dirt. :D

So, you don't sound positive. Should I have it looked at just to be sure?

Also, what COULD/WOULD happen if I had of driven it longer on the pavement? Would it just get out of alignment or would it actually do dammage?

Thanks!

Nope...you are fine...if you did it for a while you could break something...
