| Post subject: | Only 27 Spline Gears |
Why does every ring & pinion set for the Chrysler 8.25" have 27 splines? Motive, Richmond, Superior, US, and Yukon all only list 27 spline pinion gears for the 8.25". Am I missing something? |

Yep, those will work. As long as you are using a 29 spline differential there's nothing to worry about. The axle shafts are what have 29 splines and have to match to your diff. The gears themselves are whole other deal... |

Ok, so the axle shafts have 29 splines and the pinion/yoke have 27. Thanks. Skyjump, which ring & pinion brand did you end up going with? |

Although someone may well pipe in with 27 stories of this happening, shearing the pinion splines seems to be a very rear occurence. Other things almost always break first. |
