| Post subject: | Opinions from OME spring owners... |
I have decided to go the OME springs with Rancho shocks/struts route. I am not planning on a front bumper or winch. I do have a full tow package, skids, boulder bars. From people using OME springs, your opinions on going with the MD vs HD would be much appreciated. I have MOABS with 245/70/16 GENERALS. Any input? |

If you want MAX lift.. Get the HD springs front and rear. Im trying to figure out a way to lift mine more since I only got 1.5in from the Medium duty springs on the front. |

DAVE KJ02, I how is the ride with HD? I've had a couple of TJs with lifts and I'm used to a firm ride, however, my wife gets car sick fairly easily. I know the KJ is longer and heavier, I just don't want it to ride like a total brick if you know what i mean. A little firmer would be fine. |

It will be firmer with the HD coils. Nothing like a wrangler, but you will feel the bumps alittle more than stock. |

The KJ is a brick so the HDs are fine (The HD's are even too soft for an HD, IMO.) Mine have softened and settled and I have no bumpers or winch yet. If your going to wheel it at all, definately HD. I dont know what bumps Jeepster is talking about feeling, but I dont know what the heck he's talking about half the time anyway. |

Go with the Heavy Dutys. I was on here (mainly here) and other sites plus mfgs sites for 9 months getting info before I bought mine. I bought mine because OME is one heck of a good company, I knew I was going to have some type of heavier bumper someday, I wanted to put something on that would last more than a year or so and I wanted a firmer/ better ride. Mine, I think rides really well on and off the road. Since I have installed them I have made trips to Orlando, 3 trips to Boston and beyond and all over Ohio and West Virginia. All of that has been since April. I would not go back to stock or even Medium Dutys for any amount of money....well maybe |

Rusty's had them for $100.00 per pair, but that was a sale and I have no idea if they still have any left. I got mine a few months ago and they were $240 something to the door. |

The guys out here swear by OME and being Africa the terrain can get pretty rough . I recently did an overlander trip travelling through rocky riverbeds , dirt roads , climbing mountain passes. I had 40Litre fridge , dual battery ,Seats folded down and packed to the hilt . On the roof carrier I had jerry cans , ammo boxes etc . With all the extra load my OME set up performed like a dream. HD coils. I wouldn't think twice. |

I too am thinking about the OME HD's all the way around. How bad is the install for a guy to do in his driveway with no help and limited tools? I've done a lot of engine work in the past, but very little suspension. Thanx, |

I mentioned that I wanted HD springs to a friend of mine and he said that the ride will be bad. You will feel every bump on a roan, rail road tracks and things. He also mentined that wash bords dirt roads, like we have here in places, will be a tarrible ride. I wanted to ask the question about this, and now have the opertunity. How much truth is there about having the HD springs and hard over bumps? I would not be geting bumpers, but maybe front hitch for a removable winch. With the normal stuff in the back. but for every day driving, it will not be loaded down. |
