Can anyone post a tool list that tells all the tools and the sizes of the tools needed to install a spring lift and shocks on an '04 KJ? |

go to autozone or checker and get a spring compressor for the rear (free loaner tools kick but). i would not try the fronts. i took mine and then a local shop install the lift. just make darn sure they put it back together correctly. |

Get a spring compressor for sure, they sound more intimidating then they are. Checker or Autozone rents them for free with a deposit. Autozone charge me $40 for the rent, got it all back. Try to get one that has a pin you can push in/out to lock over the spring. It's not really necessary for the rear, but it can help. |

you need no spring compressor for rear. All I do is lift one side of rear, and they come right out. Took me all of 5 minutes to put new springs in on Monday night. |

After the springs were out did the same thing to put the new ones on. (Put Al in place of I and Als son in place of one guy) |

I'll be helping Edwin install the lift and we'll be using a car lift to get it all the way off the ground, so will a spring compressor still be needed or a good idea to have? |

i guess it all depends if you want to stand on side of the axle ..... i guess i might be a purest but i would feel beter using tools to remove the springs. it will take more time with the spring compressors but i'm the kind of person that likes to take my time a cars (no short cuts). putting that much stress on the rear end just doesnt sit well with me. i'm sure it would be fine but for me thats a little much. my 2 cents. |
