The oil in the tranny is already Syn. Be sure to use mopar ATF+4 or the equivalent. Yes, the old oil will mix with the new. |

i dont think the existing fluid is synthetic, it smells like regular oil to me. i replaced mine with Amsoil and put a pint of synthetic lucas additive, same as transfercase. |

arent you aware what the different fluids in your vehicle smell like... anti freeze, engine oil, tranny fluid, rear end grease? all have very distinct smells, synthetic smells nothing like petroleum oil. |

Yes I know they all smell different, but its not exactly hard evidence. I havnt compared the smell of syn vs dino atf fluid though. I guess I just need to go to the store and compare eh? Where can I find non syn and syn ATF +4 |

Every indication I have found states that Mopar ATF +4 IS a synthetic. Made from Class III base stock. |

yea, ATF+4 is SYN.. Thats why you MUST use it in our tranny. |

Yup even the Valvoline AFT+4 bottle say fully synthetic. The Mopar bottle says something similar too. |

You can find ATF+4 at Carquest (at least here locally) and online (ebay is a beautiful thing). |

ATF+4 is also available at your local Wal-mart under the Mopar brand and Advance Auto has the Valvoline brand. |

What they said but w/out the Lucas, Totally unneccessary to add anything to Amsoil products. |

You only got 98 cents here. Let me give you the other 2 pennies. ATF 4 is a synthetic fluid plus friction modifiers to protect against shutter. I agree with JJ this time, the Amsoil fluid is a good choice without any other additives. |

The only thing with switching to Amsoil, you must flush the tranny since it says not to mix amsoil with the old stuff. I would rather do my own work and flushing the tranny is not something I can do. Also, I know that Amsoil meets and even exceeds the standards for our tranny, but I wonder if you would get any crap from a dealer for using it if the tranny fails? Im just alittle worried about the tranny in this thing. |
