Thanks for the help how many miles? why do you think its the U-joints? 99% of the time vibration at high speed is due to poor tire balance and belive it or not your tires can change so that where the weights were put on last time may not be correct a year later I would have that checked out if you get under the jeep with it in park and try to turn the drive shaft with your hand there should be very little play at the U-joints if you can see it move then replace them but replace them all 2 ,I think ,maby I would need to look |

Not always true with being loose. Mine were not loose to the touch felt tight but when driving there was a bad vibration got back home and the rear joint was so hot that I burnt my hand on it , so check them closely. |

I did my u-joints on an S-10 I had. It was a pain because they were the pressed in type, and had to be pressed out. I think that's the case with the KJ u-joints too if I remember correctly. I'll probably go with Spicers in the near future and am looking for the part number, and where to get em. |

I have never seen one that was bad and not loose amd I have changed a few I may need to clairify on how to check you will need to go to neutral put the E-break on then go to park so that the D/S is not in a bind but still has resistance on both ends if a joint is worn it will have play in it from this point think about it the guts where the grease goes is worn and does not fit correctly I will edit it it can happen that one will go bad and not get loose but those are the ones that I have sen break |

I would first rule out, out of balance tires firse before you go after a ghost.. does the vibration vary with your mph? Does the vibration occur over a small range of speeds? if you definalty ruled out such things.. perhaps it is the u-joint.. |

If it varies with RPM.. Then something else is wrong.. If its just speed, its probably the tires. |

Changed out my first u joint when I was 13 years old that was in 1967 so I have done a few in my lifetime. Esp since I drag raced for several years and played in too much mud and sand in 4WDs over the years. Yes mostly Jason they will be loose, but I have had 5 or 6 that just froze up, either not enough grease from factory or some idiot not greasing them but they will freeze up and still feel good and tight, but be bad. |
