Well guys I got the recall call and have to set up an appointment my stepdad who also has an 04 lib it taking his in next week. I am just wondering if anyone has gotten the dealership to install the moog instead of LBJ that they are using. I gave my stepdad the part number to get the moog so I guess we will see what they say for him.

Pretty sure the dealer Can't install anything but factory parts for a recall. You can take it somewhere else though and have them do the work and then submit the paperwork/receipts for reimbursement.

Yeah the dealer won't use any other parts than the ones specified in the recall order - for all they know you could be reinstalling the faulty ball joints. If those failed... well you know what could happen after.

The recall cards are being sent out based on model year, starting with the early 2002 models and then working their way up to any vehicles built before the recall date. I got my card a few months ago, but the dealership I visit was nice enough to do the recall without the card.

It will probably take time to get all the way up to the 2006 vehicles - but if you are experiencing any indication that the LBJ wants to fail than head straight to the dealership.

Yeah My step dad didn't get a call he heard my message and then called the dealership and they just gave him an appointment but I am pretty sure his is newer then mine but same year. You could probably just call them and ask sure they will take care of it.

I got my card a couple months ago also (10/01 mfg date) and finally got around to calling this week. The service guy told me to bring the recall card or my registration and thats it. Im sure if you have a newer model but havent got the card they will take you if you call. They just want to avoid 700,000 people all at once taking ball joints off their shelfs.
