I dont run covers on mine. I can only see a cop pulling you over for either a) yuo were actually driving with them on or b) he has nothing better to do. I have never gotten pulled over cause of that ( knock on wood) |

Just keep the covers with you. Unless the cop is an idiot, he should let you off with a warning or just let you put them back on. |

California is the most ridiculous state in the nation, and I ran around there for months without covers, and never got pulled over. It is a great reason to pull you over if the cop suspects that you are drunk though. |

Some states have laws on those lights. Check your state for laws requiring covers or not when driving. |

It happened to me in Duncanville(sp?), PA two years ago. I was driveing my XJ at the time. Just like I have now on the Liberty. For KC daylighters on the frount and two back-up lamps on the rear. It was the only reasion he pulled me over. I got 6 $110.00 tickets! One for each light that didn't have a cover. I took them to court. The judge let me off with just a $110.00 total fine. Jason |

OMG! That is some crazy laws. I've ran my lights uncovered since I have had it. Notta once pulled over for it. Sounds like each state is different, or the cops are being Junkies. |

I have never put my covers on. We took them off of the Jeep when it was sitting new on the lot to keep them from being stolen and I never put them on when I leased it. I do live in a small city and I am good friends with most of the cops here so they let me slide on it even though a few have reminded me that they are illegal uncovered. Most states have similar laws about lamps above the level of the factory headlamps and/or the hood line. I will say that in my experience with off road lamps the State Police is much more likely to hassle you about them. |

Most cops wont take the time to actually pull you over. Anyone with half a brain would fight that ticket, no cop in there right mind would actually go to court for a little violation like that. Atleast not around me... |

I have a renegade, and I always drive without my covers on, just incase i need to scare the hell out of one of those pop-bottle rocket racers on the highway at night! No problems except bugs and dirt, but that can be fixed. |

You know that cop that has nothing better to do than to pull you over for having your light bar uncovered, well, he happens to be in Santa Cruz, Ca. where I live..... He pulled me over and told to cover them up, and didnt even say anything about not having a front lincense plate. |

Speaking of roof lights, does anyone know the actual part number for the switch in the dash? (The plastic tab on the back broke, and the stealership wants to charge $40+ for the switch, and another $100+ to put it in - I was hoping to avoid breaking into the "new bumper/bull bar fund.") thanks, t p.s. I usually leave my light covers on for everyday driving - doesn't matter too much when the switch is broke. |

I usually drive with my covers on, just incase a rock comes up or something. But I hated the way all the black plastic was up there, so I did this to break it up a bit, plus I think it makes the Lib stand out a bit more from others.

I live in Upstate New York where 4-wheeling isn't a big hobby so we really don't have any laws (at least none that the cops or myself know about)regarding uncovered auxiliary lighting. I never cover mine and have never had a problem. I forgot to turn them off one night as I pulled into work (I was using them because of all the deer in this area) and one of the State Troopers I work with pulled up to me as I was getting out to remind me not to get caught using them on paved roads, but never said anything about covering them up. |

i got pulled over once, but i actually had them on lol. but i use them just as i would use my brights. i saw a car coming from around a turn so i turned em off. so as the car passes me i see its a cop, no big deal, iwasnt worried because i turned them off. well he turns his police lights on and does a u-turn and pulls me over for having them on on the street. he said even though i turned them off when i saw a car coming, for that split second that they WERE on, it was like looking into the sun LOL. so he said not to have them on on the street and he let me go. he didnt dsay anything about covers or anything. but that was with the stock bulbs, NOW i have sylvania silverstar ultras in there lol just yesterday, some idiot in a huge brand new lexus SUV cuts me off on the highway so i LAY on the horn and turn on my rooflights |

Lol to Rayman =) We had that huge windstorm in the NW a few weeks ago, I drove with the lights on as long as no oncoming traffic was around.... Great for seeing if any huge trees would come up. As I'm heading into town, a cop passes by and I turn them off, he didn't do anything. Perhaps thats just because if he pulled me over I'd guilt trip by telling him/her that people died from trees falling and I'll do whatever I can to help avoid them. But yah I keep the covers off. Its too difficult to put them on and off. |
