I was reading on my local jeep site that you can use driveshaft off an xj with a dana rear end on one with a 8.25 rear end for lifted applications as it uses the same u joints but the shaft is .5" longer.....is this the case for us as well?

drive shaft length has very little to do with a lift unless you move the rear diff back but that will open a whole new can of worms
They may be using the DS for some other reason
Like me I am using a XJ front DS cut down on the rear of my TJ because it has the good "slip joint" in it
if you put a SYE kit on then you could do the same thing for the same reason

If you use the wrong length shaft you could damage your T-case if you force to much up travel or pull the slip yolk out if it goes to far down

I would leave well enough alone unless you have a problem
