LOST JEEPS :: View topic - Wheel alignment!!

Hi to all.
I've tried to read all the threads to see if my question dose has an answer somewhere!

I've a problem with my KJ 05 3.7L , :roll:

Lifted 2.5" by Franken lift, did the max adjustment for the camber, and still could not make it Zero!!

Any idea to help??? :idea:

I think places like NTB let you buy 1-yr, 3-yr, and lifetime alignment packages, but after they couldn't figure out how to get my Grabber AT2's to bead on the rims, I'm not really going to say they know how to do alignments either.

Anyways, what I would do is get an alignment as close to spec as possible, then give the Frankenlift a good workout to get it to settle. Then get another alignment and see if that gets you closer to factory spec.

sounds like another case of the bailing wire and chewing gum frankenlift... do you have the extra cool lookin big chunk o rubber and hoseclamp too? lol

Most say that it needs some time to settle. Or more like it needs a good pounding to settle, as in do some good offroading that makes that front end work. Then there are a few that report that theirs never settled in and caused them major problems. I dont have one so this is just from what I have learned here. I'm sure a few others will chime in. How much was shipiing to "overseas"?

Actually, it is along story how I got them shipped to Dubai; anyways still I did not receive the shipping bill from DHL, although I've a good discount with them. Let us wait and see!!

find some big potholes and train crossings and just drive thru without slowing down, get the jeep & the lift to feel some bumps. As for the alignment, because of the lift, you will never get it to hit factory specs - really close but not zero. I had alignment done various times and I usually do one every time I take it to the dealer - find a place that might charge you once and do free alignments in the future.

No matter what lift you install, you probably won't be able to get a perfect alignment. I have a Daystar lift, and was only able to get it to "within spec." Only after installing Jeepin Al's upper A arms, was I able to get a good alignment. By the way, my Daystar also has the extra piece of rubber & hose clamp. There are certain limitations to the KJ's front suspension and sometimes, the simplest solution is the best. Ed

If you lift a vehicle like our KJs, and don't replace things like control arms, you won't be able to get the angles back to factory specs, ever! This applies to all 2.5" lifts, if they are at least truely 2.5" higher than stock. Independent Front Suspension is very complicated compared to solid axles and changing one or two things can really stress out weaker components (like crap stock upper-A arms) and end up messing up the geometry and movement of the system. So far I think I can reasonably say that a good 2.5" lift and a good set of after-market UCAs makes for a much capable and durable Jeep then the stock KJ. But of course with something as complex as the IFS on the Lib, when you change the shock towers' height at all, you change a lot of angles. And as many of us have found out, you don't want to leave IFS components stressed at all, because the sub-par quality of stock KJ suspension parts is scary enough.

Dang, I think you are the third guy on here from UAE!!! As for the lift, what every one else says, it will settle with time, I do not agree with the hit bumps fast deal though... Just take it out on the dunes and wheel it, it will settle. KJBOL is also right, Jeepinbyal's upper arms are the way to go. ball joint is greaseable, and I have a better alignment than I did from the factory, she doesn't wonder to the left no more. If I remember right, there is a Jeep dealer in Abu Dhabi that does offer a lifetime alignment, I know we had to pay extra for it though... But we were pretty hard on the cherokee we had over there
