Post subject:  DAYSTARS EVS

I had asked this question in the F.A.Q.'s section, but have not gotten an answer on Daystars EVS (enhanced vehicle suspension). Any info on this product? How well do they work, and if they may take the place of extending bumpstops?

You might want to post a LINK so we can tell exactly what you are talking about.

Thanks, for at least a reply. I have found out some more info on this product from some of my locals. EVS are foam shock bumpstops they will fit over eye ring mount shocks as well as stud mount shocks (of course with a special tool only sold by Daystar) to prevent hard compresson.I had thought that maybe by useing this product it may take the place of having to find extended or extending O.E. bumpstops. By what my local shops have said that they will only prevent damage to shocks and not take the place of bumpstops? I found them on Rockymountainsusp.com.

Interesting...we had them on some race car applications. It "seems" like they could act a bit like a bumpstop if it limits travel but they would have to be so big (bigger than the bumpstop) to do any good probably

Will, I guess what a thought needs to go into is what a bumpstop does and is the EVS going to do the samething. A bumpstop is going to prevent your tires from smashing into the body(me just writing out load, correct me if I'm wrong) on hard impact. The EVS will prevent your shock from fully compressing, and maybe by adding more to thier product(or may not need to)will also keep your tires from rubbing or smashing into the tire well.

Your bumpstop keeps the shock from bottoming out..

You do not need the "EVS" to keep the bumpstop from bottoming out.

Im still kinda confused by what this product is or even does. A pic of it and where it goes would explain alot.

Some air bags would help the rear with load.. Not to sure if thats why you want the "EVS" or not? :?

I think the EVS system is a cheaper version of jounce shocks, which are widely used in dersert racing. They help soften the blow of the suspension and whatever part hits the bumpstops which saves on parts from breaking. They don't have any effect on lift and just a little on articulation, they just act like a shock absober for the the bumpstops to prevent part breakage. The EVS system might extend the strut life for those who run the over-the-strut lifts.

WWW.rockymountainsusp.com/W_poly_bumpstops.htm. This is the site that I am talking about with pictures of EVS, maybe it'll help with what they can or cannot do.
