i asked for mopar taillight guards for christmas after seeing a set on a 05 or 06 liberty renegade in a parking lot. it was dark blue, had a mopar roof basket, and black taillight guards. they were satin/flat looking, and were pretty beefy around the edges, and were plastic.

well i got them for christmas(mopar), but they were not beefy around the perimiter pieces like the ones i saw, and were really glossy black. i still put em on cuz i still liked em, but would still like to look for the other ones, and maybe upgrade to the 06 taillights too.

could someone let me know if mopar sells two different kinds of taillight guards?

I don't know about "real" taillight guards seeing as I haven't found any yet. I may have to talk to my fab. guy. I did find out today that the plastic mopar ones will break when a tree tries to be nice and massage my tail lights for me. But I would say that if I hadn't had them on it would have been the taillight assembly that would be broken. I guess for 20 bucks when I got them it wasn't a bad spend.

Parakeet

P.S. Mopar only sells on style but you can get it in black, graphite, chrome and one otherone I think.

see how the ones in the second picture are more beefy? those are the ones im talkin about, the ones i wanted. i thought they were mopar since i have seen quite a few with them, but they were only like the 05-06, so i figured they were a new factory mopar option

The taillight gaurds on my 06 renegade are bonded on with some killer epoxy. they look pretty beefy and are flat. I was under the impression to get this kind you need to but new taillamps.

I hear those are real handy when deer attack from the rear. I just keep my deer carrier on all season for that reason. It does bend up on trees though but aluminum is easy to straighten.
