After i get done Jeepin, the inside of my engine bay is pretty covered with mud and stuff, what can i do to clean it? Is it safe to just put a plastic bag over my intake, and spray the rest of the engine with a hose, to keep things kinda clean? what about the battery and electronics? Any help is much appreciated |

i figured i could use a hose or something otherwise owning a jeep would be pointless, if i couldn't play in the mud. The only reason i said plastic over my intake is because i have a Fram Boost dry intake, i don't think water would be good beneficial for it.. but thanks for your help |

I would remove the air filter, bag the end of the intake hose and spray with the gaden hose. While the engine is drying bang the bugs out of your filter. Works for me. |

What i do is take it to the car wash open the hood and hose it off while it is running just be careful of the coil packs. just be careful where you hit it with pressure. |

Thats plenty of pressure. |

yup, simple green works good. If my engine is cold, ill let it warm up for around a min then spray it off good. Then Ill start it up after im done just to help it dry. I usually clean it around 2 times a year.. Or after a trip offroad. |

Ya , I do the same ,but I spray Gunk Citrus Engine cleaner over every thing and then use a garden hose, then power wash both sides of the engine where the exaust is and the front where the steering rack and fan are. Then start the engine and dry it off, helping along the way, being sure to get all the water off, then the final touch, engine detail spray all over the entire engine and compartment. Back to factory new looking. And it make cleaning it the next so much easier...... Thats me, putting bags over stuff don't make sence to me, since the Renny is a 4X4, and I know mine loves the mud and the water that goes right along with it, so where do you draw the line? |

i have heard a lot of good things about simple green. is it in a spray can or a spray bottle? i used the gunk foamy on my honda and it seemed to work pretty good. and that makes a lot of sense to not spray water on a hot engine. so for the simple green, just spray it on let it sit(how long?) and then just hose it off gently? because i hate having a dirty engine and it needs cleaned soon, i got some mud in the engine bay, and some oil where the oil filter dripped when i changed the oil last week. im just going to do it on one of these warmer sunny days in the winter and let the hood stay open for a while to dry then ill start it later on |
