Thanks for the help. Shop around for some used lift parts and keep an eye on the Rubicon Owners forum, here and JU for Moabs w/ MT/R's. |

I'm not lifted yet but have a family and a budget to live by but from what I am reading on here a cheap suspension lift (spacer lift) isn't all that great and can cause some ball joint problems. For me when I get lifted I am just going to order the rusty's coil lift without rear shocks. If I was to order a spacer lift it would be the RRO combo lift or the most prefered Daystar lifts. Hope that helps you at somepoint. |

Like Sidewayskj said...maybe a spacer lift is the way to go. It is a cheap and easy way to get lifted...but isn't as performance oriented as the supension lifts like the rusty's coil or Frankenlift. Plus both are $400+ while the daystar or other spacer lifts can be priced around $250+shipping. Not too bad...and will work perfect just for the looks on the road. Good luck w/ the Moabs and MTRs...just gotta keep an eye out...you may find some good deals. |

Be sure to get rims from an 06 or earlier Rubicon. The new one has a different bolt pattern. |

I cant find it right now, but there was a thread someone posed that was an account of how basically everything bad that can happen to your jeep if you do a spacer lift DID happen, and they regretted it immensely. I'm 100% certain I'm lifting mine, but that thread basically convinced me to wait to do it 'till I could afford a more complete kit with struts n' coils. |

I'm guessing this person wheeled with it? |

Yeah exactly. Basically just used it like you would expect to, went out and played around, and everything got messed up...Mostly I think it was the struts and ball joints, but with obviously heavy upper A arm/spring contact. I cant say I have first hand experience with these lifts, but I'd rather wheel my KJ in stock form than with an OTT spacer lift. Of course I dont mean to say anything about the people who choose to use the spacer lift Its just not for me. |

Not all spacer lifts are bad, I have a Daystar lift and it is very nice. |

Im not a crazy wheeler...yet. I just got the rig last night and I love it. So I guess my question is, is it better for me to get a daystar spacer lift and wheel a little with it to see if I like it or just say FUBAR and go with the full suspension lift. Remembering that Im a cheapo right now |

wheel it stock while you save, who says you need a lift to go off-road. |

I agree, I wheel mine stock even with the street tires and the bling bling 17in. rims that came on my limited. Plus driving it stock for a while will make you better offroad, it'll teach you what your KJ is capable of. |

There is a distinct difference between the OTT - on the top spacer lifts and the Daystar type - insert between the base of the spring and the strut. the OTT have had multiple problems (mainly due to the bump stop being the wrong length and can kill the strut fairly quickly) the Daystars have been pretty good (and the only thing that works for the CRD's) |

The distinct difference for me was 300.00...other than that.....mine works just fine |
