I'm thinking of getting a locker for my next big mod but a thought occured to me. When the time comes that we can run larger tires and need to re-gear would a locker I buy now still be usable with a different gear set in the differential? Or would I have to purchase a new locker to accomodate a different gear ratio?

More mods planned than money.

The same carrier and/or locker will work fine.
In the Chrysler 8.25 the same carrier is used for all gear ratios 2.56 and numerically higher. In the Dana 30 it’s 3.73 and numerically higher.
This is called the carrier brake. Every axle is different, some GM axles have two brakes and Ford axles don’t have any.
