Post subject:  winch and KJ 05 Limited ?

Stop me if i'm wrong but i saw some kj here with winch on front of the jeep.
To fix the winch on the kj, like skrracing, we need the piece of metal that i see on photo, i think call front hitche, isn't it ? But i'm not sure, sorry i don't understand all the words ;)

But someone know if we can fix a winch on the limited 05 and how ?

Thanks for your help

You have 2 options. 1: Front Hitch or 2: ARB Bull Bar (Heavy). Oh and for the record... Its a Jeep not a car

currently, I do not know if anyone makes a front hitch for the '05's yet.

The ARB for '05's should be out next month from what I have seen from ARB's site.

ARB its very great product but hard to fix and need to cut the jeep.
Here in France its not really appreciate, and i think it's not authorize to drive with on road (i go to ask). Plus for my work i need to go to Paris few times per month and with ARB, i think i have problem :). The thinking of the people here in France, about the 4x4 its very different from US and 4x4 its not really appreciate in town. There are not lots of KJ modified.
The KJ is especially used for the city

I need a winch easy to put down when i'll go town

I think i'm waiting All J products do a Hidden Hitch Front.

I hope the KJ 05 can receive it. I think its hard to do it because there is not a lot of space on front for do that.

Somone can answer me about the last point ?

Thanks :)

Not to hijack this thread, but you were saying that people don't like to see a 4x4 in town and it may be illegal to have an ARB bumper. That is some crazy stuff.

One possible alternative is what I did. I tow the Liberty behind a motorhome sometimes so I have towbar brackets on the Liberty. I had a 4,500# winch that someone gave me so I used a piece of 3" angle iron and bolted the winch to it. I added the plates that are used to attacth a towbar to the Liberty and use a disconnect plug to wire it.

I can put the winch in place of the towbar if I want to.

It takes about 3 minutes to mount or dismount it even if I am taking my time. I could do it faster if I was in a hurry.

Since the towbar is rated to pull 5,000 pounds I fiured the 4,500 pound winch would not overstress anything. I doubt that an 8,000 pound winch would be too much but as I said, the 4,500 pound was a gift from someone.

The biggest problem is that the towbar brackets cost a little over $300. That was not a problem for me since I had to buy them to tow it anyway.
