In the Air Intake Box, there is a small rectangular filter that is in the box on the right side of the box. Does this need to be cleaned or anything, b/c it looks pretty dirty?

Can you take a picture? Is there a hose coming out of the box in this particular area? I don't think I have something like that in my air box...?

It many be the crank case breather, and it shouldn't kept extremely dirty, just like any filter.

Mine has been getting alittle oil built up on it. Its not bad enough to worry about yet.

Probably wouldnt hurt to take it out and wash it with some Joy or something that would remove all the oil. Take some clean engine oil and put back in it then squeeze all the oil back out of it you can. That will help it filter better.

I know what he's talking about it looks like a piece of foam inside the air box itself

I also was wondering on how to clean it, dealership told me not to worry about it, parts doesn't even have it listed as a part

You guys with a '02 do not have it. It was added in '03. I'm not sure what it is to. But it's attached to the driver side inside the box and has small line supplying air to something in the engine block. (on gassers that is)

If you have an army surplus store near by, just head over there and look for a foam material of similar construction. You can use scissors to cut a new filter to the dimensions that you specifically need.

Some fast lube places will also carry the same type of material so if you can't find it on your own, they might be the next best alternative. This of course only applies if you are looking for a new filter element and cleaning the original doesn't give you the results you're looking for.
