Just wondering if anyone has 20,000 + miles on the Moogs yet and how they are holding up?

I got my recall notice for the BJ's, and was thinking of taking a set of Moog's to the dealer to replace their factory BJ's when I have them serviced.

I would say that most people do not have many miles on them. I dont really know what the mileage was when I put min on, but Ive had them offroad once with the midwest guys, and a few times by myself and they seem to be holding up great. They probably have around 5k on them now.. Maybe alittle less.

I am worried about one b/c I tore the boot when I put it in. Al sent me some boot protectors to go over the entire joint, but it doesnt hold the grease in to well. I try to put a pump in it often to keep dirt out of it.

I was hoping that someone that got the extra boot that Al sends out with his joints now, would sell it to me or something. :)

Just email Al, I'm sure he'd be able to help you or at least point you in the right direction.

I've got about 5,000 on mine and no problems. If you get the Moogs you might as well install them yourself and get them to reimburse you, cause I do'nt think they will install carry in parts.

I have a few thousand on the set in my wifes KJ. Only problem so far is the plug in the top of one popped out while greasing them and only way to get it to go back in is to take the front end back apart and try to stake it back in. I can still pump fresh grease into them but it comes right out of the hole left behind. Hopefully there is enough getting into the spots that need it.

I have 7,500 miles on mine, been four wheeling 4 times since they've been in and they seem fine. I grease them after each wheelin' run and when I change my oil. Joe

I got my LBJ replace a week after the recall came out (5 months or so now) and have never received a written notice.

Thanks tjkj2002, That's the post I've been waiting for.
My first stock set lasted 18,000 and now that the New Recall ball joints seem to be junk also, along with the suspension design, I guess I'll opt for the longer lasting Moogs.

I know what you mean, first set(origanals) lasted till 18,000(had to find out about the recall in 4Wheeler mag in Iraq),the second set only lasted 10,000 miles before having alonst a 1/4" of play. These Moog's are nice and beefy and if greased every oil change should almost outlast the KJ.Also you can get rembursed for the MOOG's/install from DCX,just have the reciept handy.[/quote]

18,200mi and no problems. Just as tight today as the day they where put in. They where installed at about 19,000 miles. At that time one of my factory joints had about 1/4" of play the other had 3/8".

Is it easy to get a refund for installing them yourself? Do they pay labor too?I have not had mine done yet.

I had one pop that as well. I turned it in as a warranty claim, PIA, but they are not supposed to pop out.

Real easy, all you have to do is send them a letter with the original sales reciept and your VIN to verify the recall. Make copies of it all for your records too. If you do not have your reciept, call the place you got them from, they may be able to reprint the reciept for you, that is what I had to do. Call the 800 number for the recall center, they will tell you all you need.

If you put them in yourself, they will not pay for labor, if you have a reciept for the shop that put them in for you, then you will be reimbursed.
