| Post subject: | JKS quick disconnects installed - now what |
I installed the JKS disconnects and am concerned that they will interfere when disconnected. Any ideas on how to test this before I go offroad and mess something up? When I run one tire up on a 9" tall ramp, the swaybar pin gets really close. It appears that it may hit when I turn the wheel. Not sure that I want to turn the wheels while it is up on the ramp. Jim at JKS did help me figuring out that the sway bar was not centered and that aggravated the problem. I got it centered and then put hose clamps inside the guides to keep them there. As a test, I put a 9" ramp on opposite wheels (front left and right rear) and tried to climb when connected. In lo 4WD it would get about 80% up before the wheels slipped. Disconnected it drove up with no problem in 2WD. This makes me think they really will help. Al |

Not sure how high my ramps are, but I can drive up them in low with the sway bar connected. That was when I was stock too. Alot of people said they were having problems with the cables breaking in that link that KJ04 posted. They ended up making their own lanyard out of a steel cable with looped ends. I believe someone had a bracket bend after doing that though. So something must be getting hit to put pressure on the sway bar. |

I have an 06 and I had to cut off the ABS sensor wire mounting posts and slightly relocate the brake lines as per the instructions, I checked for clearence issues and the only one so far is the retaining pin/clip gets bent every time I go off roading and I have to pound it out at the end of the day which is a bit of an irritation. as far as the lanyard getting broke I think that can be atributed to the sway bar bouncing and then yanking on the lanyard I don't think its an interference issue, I did wind up putting together my own lanyard tho and I broke the supplied lanyard but I just let the sway bar clank around the rest of the day with no issues(possibly the best solution |

My clip pin also was interfering. JKS said that I could leave it off. They didn't think there was anyway that the lanyard would come off. I have not done the final mod yet to the ABS post. Trying to figure out if I need other mods. I gathered from my conversation with JKS that the lanyard is made to break so that it doesn't damage anything else. I plan to get some decorative chain or something that is pretty weak to have along. JKS also thought that changing the length of the lanyard may also help. It looks like they will be a real benefit. I just don't want to find out they destroy something on the trail. Will be going to MOAB in April for two weeks and don't want to spend it in the shop. Al |
