Post subject:  HELP!!!! REAR WINDOW WONT CLOSE

all of a sudden the last two days, my dash display thinks the back window is open, thus not letting the wiper turn on. And today the window just decided to open while driving down the road, and for the life of me i could not get it to close, it just kept popping back open. even with the jeep turned off, the gate just pops back open. For some reason it seems as if the latch mechanism is getting power for no reason, meaning possibly a short?

I have it tied shut for now, does anyone have any ideas whatsoever

Also i might add that while actually pushing the latch on the gate closed by hand, it tries to just open itself back up. WTF? I love my jeep, but this issue is really pushing me to my limits.

try hitting the lock unlock button when the window is open. Lock it then unlock it , then try and close it. I bet the latch is in th eclosed position and not letting you close it.

i did try this just to kinda reset everything so to speak... I can see that the latch is in fact open, if i push it closed with my finger it acts like someone is hitting the open button on the remote over and over again

I think that there was some kind or recall on this issue
I know that at some point when my wife had it at the dealer for service ,when it was free, they did something to the rear window latch
I have had issues with the latch closing when we open the swing gate to fast but a unlock button push fixes it

There was a recall/TSB for Lift Glass latch last year I think. The latches were getting damp and shorting, causing the latch to release constantly... Maybe you're experiencing the problem? (Mine was replaced (04) for no charge at the dealer)

when my bcm took a dump, somewhere in there i opened the back and the latch for the glass hadnt opened. then it wouldnt shut, sounds kinda like what yurs is doin

i had to get in there with a screw driver and pry the latch open in the center that holds the glass down. then it just closed normally no more probs since

I'm getting very scared that my bcm is crapping out...... tonight, i turned my jeep off, and the wipers wanted to stay on..... i am wondering if it has anything to do with the recall that said something along the lines that the keyless entry sometimes conflicts with the bcm software..... I wonder if i can just have the software reprogrammed??? A new bcm with programming is close to 900 at my dealer. Being a college student i don't exactly have that kind of green kicking around, can anyone help steer me in the right direction?
