| Post subject: | boulder bar help |
the weather is nice and im trying to install my boulder bars. the instructions say "1.Place hole location template (7 hole steel band) on the face of the lower rocker panel lip with the front hole of the template being held in place with the rear lower screw of the front fender . Clamp in place; mark and accurately center punch the 6 holes showing." am i supposed to use the hole that this bolt is currently in (if i remove the red bolt) as hole # 1 for the boulder bar bolts (the instructions say to punch 6 holes and in step 2 to drill 6 holes) or a different one?
(the pics are greeinsih as im using a green tarp) |

Sounds to me like they want you just line up that hole with that screw thats already in the Pinch Seam. Do the bars have 6 or 7 holes in it that need to be bolted up to the pinch seam? Edit: What is that all over your paint? |

Do the bars have 6 or 7 holes in it that need to be bolted up to the pinch seam? there are 7 holes in the bars and 7 in my template... but the instructions say to line up the first hole with "rear lower screw of the front fender " so that means i only drill 6 holes? |

Yup, and you need to take that bolt out. I would take it out and put it back into the template to make sure that it doesnt move around. You may also need to make that hole bigger once you take that screw out and try to put a bolt in it(not to sure, ive never had that bolt out). Are you going to put anything on the bare metal once you drill the holes? I found that the Under Coating made by Duplicolor worked out really well. It was alittle expensive(around $8.00) but it does a great job. I just used Q-tips to put back into the holes that I drilled and let it dry for alittle while. |

What he said. Use that screw to hold template in place. After, you will want to run the drill through that hole to widen it just a bit for the mounting bolt. The screw hole is a little smaller than the ones you're drilling. |
