Several questions about the np231 1. How do you check the fluid in the transfercase? 2. How do you add fluid to the transfercase? 3. What fluid should I use? Thanks. |

Look at the back of the transfer(the side with the rear driveshaft),you will see 2 plugs. The lower plug is the drain and a couple of inches above it is the fill plug.To check the fluid level take out top plug(with KJ level)and the fluid should be at or up to 1/2" from the bottom of the fill plug(don't off hand remember the size needed to remove).Use ATF+4 only or Amsoil syn. tranny fliud. You will need a pump or fill nipple from a gear oil bottle to put fluid back in the transfer case.Hope this helps. |
