| Post subject: | Hawse Fairlead For an ARB bumper? |
I just installed an ARB winch bumper on my '06 CRD and was wondering what to do about a fairlead. The Warn 8000 came supplied with a roller, but I am going to use synthetic line and need to use a smooth aluminum hawse fairlead. However, the ARB bumper has the winch offset a bit in the mount and uses two of the mounting bolts from the winch to mount the fairlead. It requires drilling two offset holes in the roller fairlead to fit. A conventional hawse fairlead does not have the extra material on the mounting ends to redrill them offset. What have you folks been doing for this? Additionally, I considered drilling some new mounting holes in the bumper to center a hawse lead, but there is no clearance behind to fit a nut (winch sits right against the backside of the bumper at that point). Thanks for the help, Bill |

Maybe a pic would help. You only need one hole on each side for an aluminum rope fairlead like an http://www.OKOFFROAD.com fairlead. |

Try drilling your holes in the bumper where you need them, and then use a die tap for your threads. |

Bumper isn't thick enough to support much thread imho. In an extreme side pull its going to really stress it. |

Mine has held fine for 3 yrs. now, with no problems. I'm sure you'll come up with your own solution. |

Call Winchline. John makes synthetic rollers that mount onto the Warn style fairlead. Looks best on our bar IMO. Hawse leads are too small and don't fill the hole completely. http://www.winchline.com/fairleads.htm |
