Was wondering if anyone has compressed the springs themselves. I know the cheap two piece compressors such as these don't work too well. One broke on me into my second strut assembly. I was looking at something like this and then possibly using one of those cheap two piece compressors as a safety backup |

eddo with my install aver the weekend we used the 2 piece compressors + threaded through the spring we used a ratchet strap for a bit of security like this
and had the whole lot clamped up in a I bar clamp like this
the whole thing front to rear took us 3 hours to do BUt we did have a Rattle gun to undo and tighten all the bolts |

Eddo: Thx for the warning. That looks exactly like the one I bought from Harbor Freight Salvage for $9.99. Made in China. It was a PITA to use, but it gave me enuf compression to do my Clevis lift. That red one looks decent, as long as it fits in between those tight strut springs? That's why I'm ordering my lift with the pre-assembled struts. Go for it man, and let us know how it worked. |
