It seems like an obvious question, which of the major quality brands sits higher. The 2.5 Franken, 3 Rough Country, 2.5 Rustys? I've noticed many of the same inchage lifts, with very different stances. Then you say, well it all depends on the tire size. I'm looking to run 265/75/16s on one of these three lifts. Which one of these would you reccomend as being the biggest? I'm not into hardcare trail riding, so I'm not too worried if the tires are a tight fit.

Well, I know you can get 235/85/16's (32") under a frankenlift with some bumper trimming and the pinchweld hammered.... those 265's are a lot wider though; not sure if you might need some spidertrax spacers to prevent rubbing on the inside at full lock.

I think I would go with the frankenlift, The Rough Country I would stay away from and the Rustys while good will need some extra help to run the tires you want to run. Do it right the first time and be done with it

my worthless 2 cents this morning

Go with the Frankenlift. Sits the highest and uses high quality parts.

But the frankenlift NEEDS to be "broken in" with some (so I have read here) pretty aggressive wheelin. Cause a lot of people here had complained about UBJ contact til til the front springs settled. You can easily run those tires with any of the other two lifts with the same amount of trimming and spending maybe $50 for extra parts to be as high as the fraken lift. Like mentioned earlier you may need some wheel spacers to kick those fat tires out a bit.

I know HOOD927 is running the rough country with those size tires and has no issues with it.

And I can vouch for Rusty's high quality parts too, minus his rear shocks.

Hope this opinion helps in your decision.

Thanks guys. I'd be using wheel spacers, I think it looks a lot better with them as well.

go with the frankenlift and buy 2 rear spring isolators (one per side) to level out the back... and with 265/75/16's it'll come out something liek this....

Looks great. Does that have the wheel spacers on it? Also, how much did you have to do about rubbing?

yes it does have wheel spacers (spidertrax).. it rubbed at the pinch weld.. and the front of the inner fender. (with 265/75's).. however.. with a little trimming all rubbing is gone!

Isolators? i've had a Frankenlift nearly a year now, pounded it pretty hard, and still the fron rides higher. Gotten used to it but i like the level look of yours. So what are the isolators, what do they do & where can i get? Appreciate the info.

BTW, nice lookin' rig!

Its the rubber pads on the top and bottom of your springs, can get them from any dealer and not that expensive. Make sure you get the ones for the top though for what you need.

he's right. all you do if call the dealer and tell them what you need.. (the upper rear spring isolator) i believe they were $12 a piece.. and you just have to drop the spring and slide it under the stock one already in place... makes it a bit hard to put the spring in... a compressor would be nice.. or have a buddy stand and push on the axle so theres enough room. over all it's between 1/4 to 1/2 inch of extra lift in the back over the normal frankenlift

thanks! and hope this helps ya out...

Thanx again!

we've got some posts on it in the Midwest section from lift party followups. also, the a-arms at a real beach to install. you may want to ask eddo about all the fun we had yesterday... Maybe he'll take a picture of the finished product and comment on the issues
