Post subject:  Question before lift

My main concern before ordering my lift is, will lifting the liberty cause the value to go down, I'm going to be keeping the liberty for the next 4-5 years but after that I'm going to be looking to sell it and i want to make sure i can still get good money for it then. I also won’t be driving it much in the next 4 years (college). Comments? Experience?

To be honest it probably wont be worth much in 4-5yrs anyway. Liberties are a dime a dozen these days. Lifting it could help resale or could hurt it. Someone wanting a lifted liberty may pay more since it's already on there. Someone who doesn't want one lifted wont buy it. I think putting a lift on it narrows the market considerably. Just save your old parts put them on when your ready to sell it. Then sell the lift kit here or on ebay.

Thats great advice. With my truck I had a lot of aftermarket parts on it and therefore when I went to sell, had an extremely limited buyer market. What I have done with the Jeep is keep all the stock parts in my attic. That way, when I get ready to sell I can return the truck to stock and have a much wider market. 4-5 years is a long time to not enjoy your truck by keeping it stock imo. I wouldnt let resale value stop you from upgrading. Just keep those stock parts.

I agree, you'll narrow possible buyers by moding any vehicle. But then again, if it is exactly what 1 person is looking for, you may get more then you would of other wise.

The real question here is, if you plan on only keeping a new vehicle for four years and plan on keeping it stock, why not just lease and lower you monthly payments?

Thats what I do. I dont sell all of the stock parts that I take off the Jeep. Someday I will get another Jeep to offroad in, so I will want to return this Jeep back to stock.

Anytime you offroad a jeep, the person that is interested in buying it will not want it/wont want to pay as much. :?
