Post subject:  New Front Recovery Points and Winch Mount

We finally have a way to mount a winch on the front of the KJ and gained some stout D-Ring mounts too (hate the factory tow hooks  )

And I don't need to add a heavy, expensive ARB type bumper. It kind of keeps our daily driver somewhat stealth looking 8)

Here's a few pics - I'll post more with the Winch on it when the Superwinch EP 9000 comes in next week
(sorry for the large pic size  )

That's a Detours USA Backbone winch system. They have that setup for the XJ and ZJ, and it is very impressive. I'm glad to see they came out with one for the KJ. Their website is www.detoursusa.com. I really like their work, and if I wasn't going to make my own personal XJ rear bumper, I would get theirs. I get a lot of XJ customers wondering when I am going to make and XJ rear bumper, and I always send them to Detours.

Very nice indeed!

How about some pics of how/where it mounts?

I would guess that the procedure is very similar to that of the ZJ, which you can see here:

This is a prototype for Detours (www.detoursusa.com). Our 2002 KJ is the guinne pig. The system is called the "Backbone" and he's been producing them for Cherokees for a year or two.

He's not sure there would be a demand for a KJ version, but I told him KJ owners are ALWAYS looking for aftermarket product support Wink

Hello KJ owners, my name is Mark, I'm the chief cook & bottle washer at Detours.....in other words, the owner.

Thanks for all the positive replies to the new KJ BackBone system, I actually like it so much I might start shopping
for a KJ....
In brief, it is alot like the ZJ set up, install is very easy.....only 4 holes to be drilled by the consumer, all other connections
are existing, the bumper skin trims very easy like butter.
Currently, we still need to get with our lasar people on this item and some templates developed, jigs are basically
complete, install has been photographed for the website and the install directions are 85% complete.......so with in a
couple weeks, it should be ready for production..........

Someone mentioned a light bar........it's being considered......

Hello Rock Lizard and thanks for the kind words!

I'll see if I can get a post going in the Venders area with a bit more detail later on....I look forward to working with
those who have intrest in the product!

Have a GREAT holiday-

Mark/Detour/Detours Llc.

That is exactly what I want for my kj. Just enough essential parts  and not too much weight but, not sure how it'll look/fit an '05 Ltd.

Looks like a great product. If I wasn't getting a RL bumper I'd be adding this to my shopping list for sure.

I wonder how that would look on a 06 up that looks great and would defintly be up for buying one becuase the stock tow points up front suck.

That is awsome!!! Any idea what the cost would be on this item?

I'm interested because it appears to be a system that you can buy the mount and install, then start saving for a winch to be added later. I would say even a push bar could be fab to fit the mound for when the winch is not on the KJ as when being used strickly in town.
