5w-30 is recommended for the liberty.

I personally use Mobil One 10w-30 and a Pureone Purolater oil filter.(PL-20195)

Im thinking about switching to 5w-30 on the next oil change and staying with that. Not to sure yet. :?

Its not a bad idea to have some paper towels on hand when changing the oil filter. Be sure to clean the little funnel thing for the oil filter so that oil will not be dripping out the next day. :)

Wait until some of the dealers get back from the field and you will hear all about Amsoil :

It got me curious and I looked back; here are my oil changes.

Schaeffer Blend .........Motorcraft FL400S

First let me say, I'm not a dealer! I've been using Amsoil for about 1 year now. Lots of dealers had been trying to get me to switch for years, but I decided to try it when The History Channel's Modern Marvels did a show on synthetic lubricants. IF you can get it at a price similar to other synthetics, $4-6 a quart, I'd suggest it, but I've seen it as high as $9 per quart. I'm convinced it is a better oil, but it's not that much better than other synthetics. By the way, dealers will tell you you can go 25,000 miles between changes, but that is with a special filter system. You should not go over the manufacturer's recommended interval.

I don't know if I trust this engine for 10k miles before an oil change........My audi has much better engineering than the 3.7L, and they say 10k, but most switch it out at 5k....so, for me personally, I do 5k.

Lifetime oil change with Jeep Dealership. Every 3K for a max of 4 changes per year. Not bad since I only get about 11K miles a year.

I use the mopar (purchased from dealer) filters. I get a 5 liter jug of Mobil 1 5w30 from wal-mart for $28.00 and as far as intervals go, I drive a LOT, so I try and catch the 3k mile mark, but it's more like 5k.

It's a real nice, easy job, I use the black plastic ramps to pull the libby up, and the rest is (peanut) butter baby.

Just make sure that you don't accidentaly remove the AT filter. I don't have an auto, but my wifes saab is, and I am glad that I didn't pull the automatic tranny filter (which is a lot easier to reach than the manual transmission filter). (is this a potential problem with the jeeps? )

that sounds like a kickass deal. i am jealous of you having a stealership that you feel comfortable enough handing over your jeep to that much.

very jealous, confidence is not high in ours, sadness.

Use Mobil 1. I use it in every vehicle I own, or have owned. My porsche comes with Mobil 1 factory has oil changes every 30,000 kms, but it also has a dry sump lubrication and special filtration system (factory)!

I do about 5000 Kilometers on the Jeep before change.
