I have searched, but cannot find a definitive answer.

Can I run 16"x8" Rubicon MOAB wheels on my stock 2004 Libby Sport?
What would the max tire size be?
Would my stock tires work on the new wheels for a while?
The tires on it now are Goodyear Wrangler ST 215/75x16.

Thanks for answering the possibly redundant question.

Steve

You should be able to run 245/70 r16's with no problem

you will have to check goodyear's site to see if that tire size can be mounted on an 8" rim. i doubt it. i've got some 235's and they are only rated for a 6 or 7" rim...

I ran my stock 235/70/16 GY SR-A tires on Moab rims pre-lift, with no problems. Tire Rack says the 235/70's are good on a 6"- 8" rim.

According to Tire Rack the ST's should be run on a 5.5" - 7" rim.

What's really funny is, that according to Tire Rack the GY MTR 245/75/16, which was standard on the Rubicon, is only listed to be mounted on a 6.5" - 7.5" rim but came from the factory on an 8" rim. Plus, the BFG KO 245/75/16's, which I'm running now, are only listed to be mounted on 6.5" - 7.5" rims. So who knows how much it really matters.

Steve, are you sure about that current size? I thought the only two 16" factory tire sizes are 235/70R16 and225/75R16... If you actaully have the 215's then it's a bit undersized. Might want to doublecheck that for wheel compatibility.

215 or 235 were the stock sizes on the '02...

Yep, 215/75x16 on the stock steel rim. MOAB rims on the way and I'm putting Goodyear's on them.
