| Post subject: | My KJ Chirps? |
The other day, Im driving and it sounds like a couple birds chirping under my KJ. Only under load, it sounds like it coming from the transfer case area, rear driveshaft. The sound increases with speed, but ONLY under load. Its not super loud, only audible with the windows down, radio off, and under light accelleration. When I give it good, the engine drowns it out. Question I have is, Has anyone experienced this? Also, the other day I went to go into PT (Have a Command-Trac) and it took me about 5 minutes to wrestle it in. Didnt crunch or grind, just didnt want to stay in, kept popping out. Thanks guys. |

PT seems to work fine now. It stays locked in and whatnot, works 100%. Im going to get the noise checked out and get the oil changed in the Transfer Case today. I've only got 50,000 Kilometers on her and shes already acting up. Even the spring on the drivers door snapped off the frame. God Bless Warranties. |

Alak, Where you from in Alberta? I think I have a similar noise I think, but only while cruising at about 35-50kmph. |

I live in Calgary (but not a flames fan). I hardly use my A/C. From time to time on the freeway, soon as it gets cold, I turn it off and let the excess cool me down. The fact it sucks the moisture out of the air makes me feel sick. Noise is more pronounced now, Im going in tomorrow to get it checked. Confirmed its a driveline noise. It does kind of sound like a belt noise. But in neutral or park it makes no noise. I was going to put it on the lift and check it out, but I got too busy. Wife needed to move the bed around again. |

For anyone who is curious, it was a seized rear U-Joint. The Jeep drives much better and coasts smoother now. |
