| Post subject: | Rear Isolators for Leveling |
Upon installing my Frankenlift II up front on the CRD (as a replacement for a inferior lift), it now sits higher than the original lift in the rear (my original rear lift is a taller spring only). So, I read ScienceGuy's tech post about using rear spring isolators to lift the rear a little. My question is how many can you safely use in the rear at once? I need to lift about 1.5 inches to level out my jeep, and am not sure about installing 3 additional isolators on each side go gain the height. Anyone out there running multiple isolators, say 3 or 4 stacked on each rear spring? I see daystar makes a 2 inch rear spring spacer, but that seems like too much and is quite expensive ($150 for two spacers), so I'm asking the collective for advice. |

i just picked up 2 isolators that i will use with my soon-to-be-installed rusty's lift, together, they looked like at least an inch and a quarter, if not inch and a half. im gonna use one on each side. |

2 extra on each side (total or 3) is about as many as you can do. |

If you thinking about the daystar for 150 I think you should get some OME coils and shock from Rustys. Or the long travel shock (2" more) from all J, 80 bucks, each plus 25 for the extened bumpstops you need to keep the shocks from blowing when you bottom out. You have a high quality front suspension system in the frank and it will drive better if you do the back too. I think the rear coils are 100 bucks and the regular OME N132's are 40 each from rusty. 180 before shipping. I do not know about stacking that many iso's up. Might be a little unsafe but that just my gut call. I do not think you will have a drive line problem as your current spacer kit is lower than the OME lift, but that many pads stacked up sounds like potential catastrophic trouble to me. IMHO |

Give it some time to settle and it should be closer to level then decide how many you need to fine tune it. |

Besides JJ likes the pre-runner look |

I'm in the process of reviewing the Frankenlift with the 500 springs for the CRD and it gave me HUGE lift. I am in the same predicament in that my rear is noticably lower. The bottom of my front flair was at 36" when I installed the CRD I lift with the Daystar hardware. After two years it settled to 35" 3/4. I am now sitting at 37" . So, I need another 1"1/4 on top of my Daystar pucks in the rear to bring it to level. |

I put one extra OEM isolator in and it evened out my FL....then I put on RL's bumper and I'm back to where I was. I just got some WJ springs to see how they work out. They're longer than the OME HD's by about an inch. All-J should get OME to make some heavier duty rear springs like they did the shocks. HD's arent HD enough. I never understood how people say the FL will only settle in the front. |

Yeah my Frankenlift never settled...at all. I've had it on for over a year and wheeled it pretty good. I'm only slightly higher in the front and considered doing only 1 isolater per rear spring. |

That is about the same situation I'm in, but I do not have any type of spacer currently in the rear because I put a larger ( longer ) spring in the rear as part of the rock krapper kit I previously had installed. I understand letting it settle, but how long? The pre-runner style is not the best when you are carring a load in the rear. I've considered adding the daystar spacers, but wonder if they are too much, can I sand down or cut off some of the material to get them to the size I like? I am going to add the appropriate hockey pucks necessary as the bump stop when I level out the rear end. |

Did you do any clevis lift??? If not get under there and give it a little clevis lift and you'll be back to perfect. |

Had the FL on mine for a year now, wheeled it pretty good, and had little if any settling on the front as well. Just installed one extra set of rear isolators and La Rana sits perfect. |

I hear ya Gila. So I add the OME HD rear coils and extra isolators and it sat pretty level and looked good. I then added a RL rear bumper and now it is sitting funny again. I think I will need to come up with a way to level it out as well. I am actually considering airbags. I think they would make it ride great. |

It is definately an option I'm considering too. ETA: You go first and let me know |

So I finally got off my but and went out and measured to the pinch welds. 18 1/2" in the front and 18" in the rear. So I can either get a winch for the front or an extra set of isolators for the rear. I'll probably just put a winch on. That should level it out and make it ride a little softer. |
