Installed my engine skid and the same day when accelerating it hums or makes a sound of loose exaust. Thought it was the Revos on the pavement but then I remembered reading that inside noise is louder with skids? Anybody notice this? |

I've always had an engine skid on mine. But, when I put the tranny skid on it added a bit of noise. Then, it got bent and hit the exhause becuase it doesnt fit my 02 quite right. Then it made a lot of noise... then I hit it with a hammer.... |

I haven't noticed, had my engine skid off for a week and there was no difference. Sounds like some of the bolts might be a little loose. I did run with only two bolts on the tranny skid for a couple hours (after I took the engine skid off) and that rattled like crazy. Once I put the two bolts back in I noticed no more rattles or noise. Now I have no experience riding in a KJ with no skids at all, only have had the engine skid off. With all of my skids on and the bolts tight I have no sounds like what you are experiencing. Justin |

I don't know if it's a CRD thing but mine has some sound deadening on top of the Engine skid. |

Engine skid doesn't do much, but like Jon mentioned above the tranny skid will definitely reflect some noise back up to the cab, especially after landing hard on a rock |

your jeep make noises? hmm strange...better send it to the dealership. seriously, didn't notice noise w/ or w/o engine skid, but a bent transmission skid on exaust makes a heck of a rattle. had to grind down part of my SuperSkid. |

Maybe its the Revos. They seem to be humming on the highway... Maybe I did not notice this at first since I was so stoked on getting them! Could a mis-alignment cause ''vibration humming'' upon acceleration? I ask this because this morning I drove it and I can definately feel vibration in the steering wheel when accelerating... maybe just another imaginary Jeep noise.... as long as its not a driveshaft or something big?!?! |

Maybe you're just not quite acquainted with them yet.... The KJ makes alot of wierd noises. Mine sort of whistles like a turbo...come to find out its the air intake making the sound. I guess it's shaped in a way that it makes a noise. It's a cool sound...just didn't know what it was when I first got my Jeep. |

Are you sure you don't have a vacuum hose loose under the hood? I went to do some maintenance on mine a few weeks back and started hearing a sound like that, come to find out I knocked a vacuum line loose. Put it back on and no more noise... OK, back tot he topic. |
