After checking tons of posts I think my vibration problem is either some bearings or most likely the U-Joints that are vibrating when accelerating... My buddy just bought a new winch and I still want to go offroading this weekend to try it out. |

Alot of people take libertys offroad. Its up to you weather or not it gets damaged or not. Have you had the tires balanced/changed? |

If it is the ujoints and you get them under some pressure and they are bad enough then yes they can come apart. I can remember a certain 69 Cougar with a 390 that I street raced a lot, knew the rear joint was going to be needing replaced soon, so just when I was coming out of the hole and hit 2nd gear.................. Get underneath and check them out before you go so you know for sure its not worth walking home for. |

Tires are brand new and just balanced... plus it only vibrates when I accelerate which most likely rules out balancing. |

If it is the U-joints then it's not a big deal if they break. Last time I broke my U-joints was last fall on my truck. The U-joints failed on the freeway. I disconnected the rear drive shaft, threw her in four wheel and drove to the nearest parts store. 15 minutes later I was back on the freeway. All you need to do u-joints is a set of nice snap ring pliars, hammer, socket set, and a big C-clamp. Luckily for me I had all of those already in my truck. |

Newer vehicle u-joints are often retained w/ some vinyl/plastic crap that you have to heat the joint up to remove. Not positive that is how the KJ is done (IIRC I saw they were) but many vehicles for quite a while now are done that way. |

Ny '02 u-joints are held in with c-clips,I think they changed that for later model years after putting in the 42RLE.My rear driveshaft is different also then newer one's.
