There are various mounting options. You can get a front hidden hitch and use one that way (with the caddy). You can buy the new detours system and mount it permenatly. Buy an ARB bumper, or a Rock Lizard front bumper and to the winch caddy as well.

It comes down to how much you want to spend. I forget the website but someone posted one that had great prices on winches, I think Marty (RockLizard) might know the site.

When I have more time I'll run a search and find it for ya. Unless someone beats me to it.

The hidden hitch and detours route is the cheapest. If I hadn't set myself to getting a new bumper I'd probably do the detours route. Check the vendor's section for his post.

as other said there are several ways to go but IMO the port a winch thing is not worth a poop
you need to wheel with it in the rear cargo area then when you geet stuck hope that you can get it into the hich and at the same time you need to get out walk to the rear get the winch out the to the front and put it in hook it up winch your self out
unhook winch remove from front and replace into cargo area

Sounds like way to much work for me

I like the arb bumper or that new one that I saw the Detours thing that some one has
It looks good and keeps the winch nice and high also it is less than 1/2 the price of an arb bumper

ADVANTAGE of that format (removable/attach to front hitch receiver): a lot less weight on the front end which can wear out the front suspension faster and possibly lower the front end taking away approach angle. Winch will last longer by not being exposed to the weather very often. Chances are, you will not use the winch very often.

For choices of winches, make sure you look for winches that that are rated to at least 1.5 times the weight of your KJ.

There was a group buy on the Mile Marker PE 8000 about a year ago. I haven't heard anybody complain about them yet. I am still waiting on my front bumper so I have not used mine or wired it up yet.
