I know some of you guys like the 16s more because there are better tire options for them. Well, today is you lucky day! If anyone is interested in trading their 17s and tires for my 16s and tires, let me know! I can send them out to you, mine arn't on my Jeep, so you don't have to be without wheels while they ship. :)

You might not want to do that. I have the 17"s, & finding tires is relatively expensive & there isn't many options out there. Since you clearly have a set of "dress wheels", I assume the other set would be for winter or beating up, so what good would doing the 17s be?

Yea in all honesty, buying 17" tires is a PITA and its not very cost effective.

What state do you live in?? I heard shipping rim and tire together equals a big shipping cost.

I have 17's and have no problems finding tires for them. Tirerack has many tires that fit them. Im thinking about getting 245/65/17 also and that gives me some other choices. If you say you cannot find anything, then you are not looking.

I didn't say you can't find them, I said the selection is smaller & more expensive. Are you buying one of the three 17" BF Goodrich truck tires, or are you going with one of the multitudes of 17" soccer mom options?

I would trade you for sure if you lived closer, I have the 17 chrome limited rims and I hate them. But you just live way to far, driving is out of the question and shipping would be even more rediculous. sorry

You guys keep trying to tell me I'm wrong, but are actually proving my points:

1) there are not that many options, 3 in one size, and 3 in another (those silent armors don't count!) is not a lot!

2) what options there are, are expensive!

Donnie, I did not say all 17s are soccer mom tires. If you quote someone, quote the whole thing, or at least all the parts that apply. My soccer mom comment comes from the fact that when you go to the Tire Rack web site & type in 245/65 r17, you get 3 BF Goodrich truck tires, and about 15 others that would be just as happy on a Grand Caravan.

Do what you want, my SUGGESTION is keep the 16s, so you can replace the tires with sub-$100 tires!

thats expensive as HELL! we just got 4 tires delivered for $280, our tire guy doesnt charge me to take the old tires so its only mount and balance, usually $40, still $320 installed beats the hell outta any spendy 17 or bigger inch combos.

i feel ya, ditch the 17s and go for more tire choices, i wouldnt pick any of those tires, i dont know about you.

I did, the tires I posted are not BFGs so that left soccer mom tires :).

Why are the Silent Armors not counting?

I think the guy knows what he wants, unless you've missed the last couple months with all the threads on his 22's He probably knows a thing or two about expensive tires. If you want 17's get them I'm sure you know what you're getting into.

Again, quote (or read) the whole thing! That was info from The Tire Rack.com, which was the site Jeepster referenced directly! Again, They are not soccer mom tires but they are expensive! so they fall perfectly into my original observation: limited selection and expensive!
