Post subject:  Rusty Coil Lift installed NOT to happy

Installed my rusty's coil lift, a 3 ring clevis lift, al's a-arms, and 1 isolator above each rear spring. Also replaced all the lower control arm bushings but that has nothing to do with the lift. My problem is every time i look at my liberty it keeps getting lower. I know it will sag but it's not even; i got a 1/2" difference between the L/F and the R/F. The rear i have a 1" difference between the L/R and the R/R . I got 4" of lift out of the R/R with just the spring and 1 isolator???? That is the only corner that doesn't seem to be settling. With the front settling it looks like i need more lift in the front for my 245/75-16 MT/R's. What are my options for more lift in the front has anyone else had this problem? Should i put those rusty's plates in or the poly spacer?

By the way it rides great, my clunk noise in the front end is gone and Al's a-arms are awsome.

thanks!

How much more lift does it give you?

I really couldnt tell ya cause I put the rustys coil lift, strut plates, and did a clevis lift all at the same time. So i have no measurements of what each gave me. Sorry.

I think if i add these plates and pull the isolator on the R/R i will be where i want to be. I'll let it settle this week and see what happens. I'm open for more suggestions. Could i add a couple more conduit nuts for the clevis or is 3 the max recommended?

First thing I would do is check the air in your tires. if that isn't it well....

I don't know who makes Rusty's Springs, but it sounds like you may have a quality control issue. You may have rear springs from different batches or some thing like that. All I can recommend taking the Rear isolator off the right side and adding it to the left rear. As far as the front goes you should remove conduit nuts and just do the clevis lift without the nuts It should hold just fine.

Other option would be making the wife sit in the right rear but that may not go over too well.

Basically, you sort of no longer have a Rusty's lift installed. You have added a lot with it to alter it and not just have a Rusty's lift. I have never heard of this with all of the other Rusty's Lift owners, it is a very good chance that it is the add-ons. Never say never though.

Did you do pre and post lift measurements to compare? Do you have additional weight inside your KJ located on one side or the other? Are you positive you installed the lift correctly (rear springs in rear, front in front)? Did you recheck your clevis lift? Perhaps one slipped. Did you check your parts to see if they matched (fronts and rears)? Did you make sure the springs were seated properly? If you had someone help you with the install, did you make sure old springs weren't re-installed by accident?

I was gonna pull the isolator from the R/R should make it level with the L/R. I used the conduit nuts so it would be even on both sides.

LOL, I dont have a wife. I got a girlfriend but like you said don't think that would go over to well. Any way drove around today with my dog in the back there hoping that would help. She's a 70lb American bulldog.

It's a rusty's lift with a clevis lift and a 1 rear isolator on each side. Every thing is the same on each side. I'm hoping it just needs to settle a bit.

Yes i have pre and post lift measurements.
No additional weight anywhere.
Lift is installed properly i'm ASE master certified
The clevis can't slip becuse i have the cunduit nuts in there.
I checked all the parts, they all looked right, springs are seated properly.
I'm positive the new springs are installed, got 4 shiney new ones in there.

Are you sure that the ground is level?

I know that my drive way is not at all level and every rig that hes been parked in it looks to lean and depending on where you park it could be one side or the other

as far as fitting 245/75 MT/R's you have more than enough lift
I have them on the wifes with only OME springs front and rear
I did not need to pound the pinch but I did need to melt the lower plastic thingy by the fog light door and move it about 1" or less forward
I installed them on the OE wheels with no spacers or stuff like that
Oh and the front 2 are brand new never hit the ground until I installed them on the KJ

You know what you may be right. Im at work right now looking at in the parking lot and it looks pretty level. I have to find someone with a tape measure to go check. Maybe the ground is not level in front of my parents house and my parking spot at my condo? Yes i had to pound the pinchweld, i did move the plastic by the fog light but not enough because it is still rubbing.

Forgot to mention i'm running spidertrax spacers front and rear also. :D

I didn't have much settling with mine. It sits level all around when parked on a flat level suface. In my gravel driveway though it is all over different on eack wheel as to the uneven and left tilting agle of my driveway. The right wells are higher then the left and all the springs are at different rates of compression.
Get it on a flat surface and check it.

The spacers will cause more "rubbing" problems.

It appears to be settling evenly seems the right side is half inch higher than the left in both the front and rear.

I have no major rubbing issues with the spacers just need to modify the plastic by the fog lights a bit more.

I believe the right side is higher on all KJ's. I know mine was with stock and still is with the OME coils. I think it is the way the frame is built. About a 1/4'' is normal though. It may be your weight on the left is causing it to settle a little faster. Go find some ruts or uneven ground and flex it some.

Yeah, I have a feeling that the Liberty is either heavier on one side or not symetrical because I swapped coils in the rear with no change. The right just sits higher for some reason. I wonder if the stock springs are stiffer on the left side to compensate?

You may want to remove the spacers
we have nothing more than OME med. springs front and rear and I only had to "modify" the fog light door on both sides and the pinch on the passenger sode ONLY???? wich is realy confusing the crap out of me
Yeah it is within MM on the driver side but it rubbed on the passenger side only very lightly though

I did the fog doors twice now and if it rubs more in the future I will move them some more

Hmm well that's good to know, at least i'm not the only one :D I havent really flexed it exept for some parking blocks here at work. It needs to go off road though to really flex it. Hopefully this weekend. :D

I have minor rubbing in the fog light area. I will fix it this weekend. I wont remove the spacers because i love how it looks with the tires pushed out. I'm more worried about it sitting level. It's raked a bit towards the front think i'm gonna give the rusty's strut plates a try. Starting to wish i got the Frankenlift.
