Post subject:  Jeepin ALs Upper Control Arms with MOOG Ball Joints

I just finished installing Jeepin Als upper control arms and I have a problem getting the weird upper ball joint boot to hold grease. How do you get it to seat properly? Could any of you that already have these please show me a picture of yours and let me know what you did to get them to fit properly? :?

Many thanks...

Ron

Just grease them every oil change, water crossing or offroad trip and you'll be fine.

I had the same problem on the passenger side at first all the grease was coming out . I just loosened it up made sure it was straight and tightened it back up. If you do it right the best way i can describe is that it will "mushroom". Mine both hold the grease now and the boot isn't looking all cocked to one side.

Thanks for the quick replies. How long has the balljoint been installed on your KJ? Have you been through a snow/salt with no trouble from the joint?

Thanks,
Ron

I have ran these A-arms since September of last year. Here in Michigan I went through snow, slush, salt, mud, dirt, stones, etc... since I installed them. Only recently have I greased them back up (Spring/Summer tuning). Before I did though there was no indication of the boot coming up or moved. It had a pretty good amount of grease in it as well.

I had a set of Gen I's on mine for about 1.5-2yrs and the ball joints are fine on both sides. Like has been said just grease after every offroad/watercrossing trip (you do not have to do it as soon as you get out of one crossing) or every oil change, and they will be fine, the boot keeps most of the dirt and nasty stuff out.

Ted,
You snapped your 1st generation A arms, right? You have the 2nd gen now?

I just installed mine recently.
